Sleep Error 54

Redmaligator
Level 9

I have Maximus z790 Hero MB, latest Bios/Firmware, Win 11 Pro, when it goes to sleep. After any amount of time I click keyboard, it starts to boot back and then it gets stuck at QCode 54.

Win 11 Energy settings recommendations 3min to turn off screen/10min to sleep, I haver played with times it still does it after sleep. Anyone else have this issue? Thanks...

Hi,

can you confirm if this behaviour occurs at Optimised Defaults? This includes no XMP or any overclocking. Failure to come back from S3 Resume can indicate memory instability.

I set the Bios back to optimized defaults, no issue. I had it set to XMP Tweaked when setting up build.

Understood. If the issue desists at stock then the overclock is unstable. Try XMP I or II. Normally what happens is if the applied tREFI is too aggressive for the memory kit the system won’t be able to resume. The longer the system is left in S3 the more likely it won’t resume successfully.

Doing a test, setting to XMP 2.

After a long day testing, Default = No Problem
went back thru each setting:
XMP 1 = QCode 54
XMP 2 = QCode 54
XMP Tweaked = QCode 54

Then going back thru the Bios Manual I found:
ASM1061 Configuration
ASPM Support (Active State Power Management) = Default Disable
So I set it back to XMP Tweaked with ASPM Support = Enable

More to come...

Nothing but Optimized Default works. All others still give Qcode 54, 55, 62, 31. I did notice on default it shuts down monitor in 3 mins and QCode A0 stays on until it turns off, QCodes got where random depending on reset. QCode 54 was the major post during numerous bios tests. I hope this helps and ASUS can make a Bios fix.

To confirm, this only happens when returning from a sleep state?

Have you run any memory stress tests to confirm stability with any of the aforementioned XMP modes?

Yes, all are returning back on after sleep.

To be clear, you are saying to set XMP in bios and then go back in and do a memory test?
