Selected file is not a proper bios for 2503 and 2602 (ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI)

I'm on 2402, and I'm unable to update to 2503 and 2602. EzFlash 3 say "Selected file is not a proper bios"

I'm not sure if it's related to the problem, but the BIOSRenamer.exe form the web renames the files to "A5459.CAP" while BIOSRenamer.exe that comes with the MyASUS download renames the files to "SZ790A.CAP".

Edit Updated post to clear confusion. I had pulled up the wrong page ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI II, when I meant to pull up the page for the ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI.

are you sure your thumbdrive is fat32 format?

Pulling form my C drive(NTFS), same as I did, when I installed 1402...

Checking the manual, it shows SZ790A.CAP

Your motherboard has the bios flashback feature, you could try that.

To use bios flashback:

1) Shut down your pc, let the psu switch on.

2) Insert your usb flash drive into the BIOS flashback port (marked red).

3) Press and hold the bios flashback button (marked red) until the led starts blinking then release. The blinking should get faster as it goes, when the blinking stops, start your pc. Should take around 1 1/2 - 2 minutes.

It may continue to update on startup.

Correction to my original post. I have the ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI. I retried with web version form the correct download page "SZ790A.CAP" and got the same error.

The ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI appears to have the BIOS flash back port as well. can you confirm, that the process is the same? I don't see BIOS flashback covered in the user manual.

The latest BIOS for that board is 2602. Do you mean the ROG STRIX Z790-A GAMING WIFI II?

I've made a similar mistake in the past, so maybe you are on the wrong support page? If you do have the right BIOS file, then try unpacking it with WinRar instead of the Windows software. That has solved similar problems in the past. If still no joy, download it again or try the same support page in a different country. It could be corrupted (either your download or the file on the support page you are using).

I was able to update the BIOS using a USB drive formatted in fat32.
