ROG Z790-E Wifi II with Corsair H150I elite XT LCD cooling performance subpar

Hi

Im running a Z790-E Wifi II with 14900K and Corsair H150i ELite XT LCD. The AIO is front mounted in a Corsair 5000d Airflow Case.

Running stock settings, no XMP, no overclocking, Intel default profile. Latest Bios 1602.

Ive been struggling with thermal throttling and at first thought it was my 14900k and all the issues that already surrounds that. I have now swopped in my old 12700K and i still feel that my cooling is subpar. Getting around 40-50c idling temps, and when running benchmarks or games the 12700k does reach and spike to 100c. ive reseated the cooler and re-applied thermal paste but getting the same results. In Icue i have confirmed that the AIO pump is working.

What I suspect is not proper contact between the AIO and Motherboard. (Although i cannot screw it down any further and no plastic stickers under the block.) what i did notice is that the Asus motherboard has "multiple" mounting holes and i was curios which ones people use. The outer ones or the inner ones, since the AIO mounting bracket can accommodate both. (See attached picture for reference).

I was expecting any benchmarking or games running with this cooler to never reach 100C or thermal throttle (for the 12700K). I don't think the AIO is faulty, either a mounting problem or settings in the BIOS. Going to move the radiator to the top this weekend and see if it makes a difference but any comments or suggestions welcome.

Yes, i can also run XMP, i have the Corsair DDR5 Dominator Platinum RGB 4x16GB 6600. i just use the XMP profile on the front bios screen.

On the icue question, im currently running and old icue version )V4.something) its the only that is stable. if i load the new icue V5 the moment i reboot my pc and starts up icue crashes and i have to restart the app then it works again. i have tried re-installing windows and only load armory crate and icue and it crashes instantly after the restart. on my other machine i have rog strix z790-h with armory crate and icue (h150i no lcd) and it works fine together there, dont know why my machine crashes with V5. plugins or no plugins doesnt matter. must be some weird combo of hardware/kb/mouse lighting

how can it be called XMP in your bios and DOCP on mine?  We have the same mobo (i have the latest bios too, but it's called DOCP since day one for me)

I typed from memory, im not in front my pc anymore, can only check mid dec again.

We are both right.  I just never before seen it called DOCP20241115_103031.jpg

Hi @AuRoN89 can you share you full make and model number of your memory? You can get it from FREE utility like HWiNFO or from the memory kit box if you have it around you.

I suspect that you may have accidentally bought a memory kit that is meant for AMD and when you try to use this memory kit on Intel board, the profile loaded in the memory is not a match. In this case, ASUS is offering you this DOCP profile because there is no XMP profile loaded in your memory.
