ROG STRIX Z790-H GAMING WIFI - Won’t boot after attempted W11 install.

Hi All,

Hope this is the right place for this.

I just built a new PC using the ROG STRIX Z790-H GAMING WIFI motherboard. Everything booted correctly and I could see my hardware in the BIOS.

I then attempted to install Windows 11 from USB, but it said I didn’t meet the minimum requirements. I tried restarting while googling potential issues, and it would power on for a couple seconds before shutting down. Now it won’t power on at all and I can’t get into the BIOS. The only sign of life is the motherboard logo LED.

I’ve tried everything I know to do from other forums. Taken out GPU, RAM except one, SSD, disconnected non-motherboard power, tired BIOS FLBK with the latest BIOS using a FAT32 flash drive; nothing.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance!

Nope. With only motherboard, CPU, and a single RAM stick, literally nothing but the logo lights up. I did manage to get a hold of tech support and they believe the motherboard is bad.

I appreciate you jumping in to assist!

make sure legacy bios is disabled and you are on uefi. also secure boot should be enabled but usually thats enabled by default. can you give us a list of your specs?

Thanks for the reply! Specs added to original post.

I can’t update anything because I can’t get into the BIOS. I was originally going to check the BIOS settings for what W11 required, but now the MB seems all but dead and I can’t do anything.

Just to make sure I’m not completely out of touch, legacy BIOS, secure boot, and UEFI are all does with the PC actually on, correct? Not just power to MB?

Additionally, I tried plugging in my old power supply to rule that out and there’s no difference. Just the MB logo illuminates.

well the settings i mentioned usually are enabled by default (for windows 11) but some of them could be disabled i guess. if you plug in only the motherboard does the rgb turn on?
