Rog Strix Z790-H Gaming Wifi, not booting, no qled, no post

I can understand from other posts that a normal boot is as follows:

  • each of the 4 different colored q-leds turn on and then off one by one
  • post happens with bios load screen

but in my case i have never even seen the q-leds light up, when i turn on the power the fans and cpu pump turn on, go high speed for a few seconds and then settle down - and i have no gfx signal either from onboard display port or with a gfx card installed 😞

I have:

  • Flashed the bios with a usb stick to the latest version
  • checked for broken/bent pins in the cpu and motherboard
  • booted with 0/1/2 ram sticks

my setup is:

  • Asus ROG Strix z790-H WIFI gaming motherboard
  • i5-14600k cpu
  • Kingston Fury DDR5-5600 64GB (2x32GB)
  • Asus Geforce RTX 5070 TI TUF OC

Screenshots of cpu/motherboard pins:
