New build here. Can't get my memory to run at correct speeds.

ROG STRIX Z790-E GAMING WIFI

I9 14900K

Can't get xmp to work on either

128gb (4 sticks total) Corsair VENGEANCE RGB DDR5 RAM 64GB (2x32GB) 6400

or

128gb (4 sticks total)  G.SKILL Trident Z5 RGB Series (Intel XMP 3.0) DDR5 RAM 64GB (2x32GB) 6400

When setting xmp it just goes to error 55 on mobo or never posts and goes into a loop. I have to set everything to auto and then it runs at 4200

The memory says xmp 3.0 ready but my bios only offers xmp 1 or 2

Heres a shot from armoury crate

sorry but you seem confused, those xmp speeds are only for 2 sticks of ram. you need to lower the speed if your going to use over 48gb of ram. your probably only going to be able to do 5400 or 5600. if that.

I haven't built a new rig in quite some time (i7 5820k was the last) so that def makes sense.

Ok going to try and lower the speeds and see what happens. Thank you

You can’t combine memory kits:

https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/intel-700-600-series/don-t-combine-memory-kits-the-meat-and-potatoes-o...

MZ790AE Bios 9990, GSkill F5-8400J4052G24GX2-TR5S, 14900KS, EKWB D5 TBE 300, Seasonic Prime TX-1600 ATX 3.1 Noctua Edition, Asus Strix 4090 w/ HK block, Phanteks Enthoo Elite, Asus Claymore 2, Asus Gladius 3, Asus XG349C, Samsung 9100 Pro, Windows 11 Pro

Even if they are the same kit from same company?

Yes. Even if they are from the same company. Doesn't matter. I have been finding this little note in every GSkill kit I have purchased lately. Pretty neat to see that in the kit:

Well crap. Mine are all working. Have stress tested them pretty good. But they are def not running at the rated speeds.

I do a lot of 3d rendering, video color correction and editing and such so having 128 gb over 64 is nice.

Try to find a kit on the QVL that meets your requirements.

Looks like the

Kingston FURY Beast RGB Black 128GB (4x32GB) 5200MT/s is on the list.

Guess I will give it a shot. Now to return the gskill and the corsair kits I bought
