ROG STRIX Z690-A GAMING WIFI D4 BIOS 0901 Release 12/23/2021 (Discuss)

On the bios webpage for the Rog Strix Z690-A D4 board there appears to be a new bios update 0901. On the webpage as of right now there seems to not be any information provided about what's new in this update.



Has anyone tested it out yet?

Updated yesterday all good here as it was before with 32gb 2x 16 Crucial Ballistix DDR 3 3600 CL16 @CL14 all still passing and 0 issues so far.

anyone tried 0901 and played some games for at least 3 days without a single BSOD or crash? I tried 0901 and WWZ froze. I tried 0807 and I got BSOD. It was stable with 0707.

What memory are you running? For me in a little testing 707 is best for stability with a2 pcb sr b die.

I could also use 901 with sr but i had a friend i was helping and usng the same settings as me on 901 he has issues with stability. He also has a much lower SP84 vs my sp95 so I think it is connected with voltages or the CPU quality.

He is back on 707 and it is working fine for him. His main use is games.

The settings we were tesing had no cpu oc and mem was 400014-15-15. He was stable with the same setting on 707 so he went back to that 707 and then went to 51 p core and 40 e core all core and said he stable now.

So I dont know what the deal is. But whatever I guess it is working for him.

I downclocked the RAM to 4000 MHz 18-19-19-39 at 1.35 volt. Still using 0901 though. I'll keep testing with games for 3 days and see if I have any crashes/freezes/BSODs.

Ok I thought maybe it was single rank b die. I have no experience with Crucial and dont remember seeing any feedback on it.

Would you try 3800 with 1.365?
Leave everything the same.

Been playing around the whole afternoon with this... and well, it is doable. Albeit frustrating and memory training seems very wonky, to say the least. My previous bad throughput was because of tWRWR_dg and tRDRD_dg being set to 5. It really needs to be 4 otherwise performance is crap. Sadly I cannot get it to be stable at higher clocks, no idea why, those b-die sticks go close to 4000 on Z390...
But 3600 CL14 is not bad at all, see screenshot. Not sure it's rock solid, but it survived a few y-cruncher runs, that's a good sign.



EDIT: Ok, it's not stable. I don't know, think I'll return the board. Sorry, but it's far too unstable with 4 DIMMs (2 would be ok) and I'm not willing to count on future BIOS updates... I'll skip ADL, doesn't really work properly with Win 10 anyway, unless the E-cores are disabled. But what's the point then??
