I know dumb question. Just to make sure, you in slot a2 and b2?
Otherwise it should do 4000 gear 1 easy, gear 2 can be picky. Might need to try bumping up sa and vddq.
I have this MB and find gear 1 easier to get stable. But havent really messed with gear 2 much. I couldnt past 4600 in gear 2(with SR b die and hynix) so went back to gear 1 4133c15/DR b die.

I am sorry why would you say gear 1 is easier to get stable? That has always been the hardest, as it brings better performance and lowers the latency.
Gear 2 is always the easiest to get stable at higher frequency, gear 1 syncs the memory and memory controller 1:1, at gear 2 it is 1:2 which leaves the memory controller at half speed.
You are very lucky if you can get past 3900 gear 1 with dual rank stick.

Yep it will be more difficult to run 4x8. The MB is daisy chain and will do best with 2x8 or 2x16. To run your 4x8 kit you will have to manually set timing and clocks on mem down to say 3600 and try then go 3866 etc until you find the wall. Then you might end up at something like 3866c14-15-15-35 example.
To make it easy just set XMP 1 or 2 and then lower memory clock. Later you can tune timings if you want to something lower than defaults of 17-18-18-38.
