ROG STRIX B760-F GAMING WIFI + Endorfy Fortis 5 not possible?

Hello,
i just build my new PC and noticed that i'm not able to mount the cooler of the Endorfy Fortis 5 completely because the 2 heatpipes on the outside are touching the cooler on the mainboard at the top. Am i just to dumb or others maybe also experienced the problem?
I mean it is possible to mount the cooler, but i can't tighten it completely because it starts touching and i don't feel like the cooler is perfectly fitted on the CPU.
Tried a cinebench run with it, was arround 26k but thermal throttle all the way.
best regards
Michael

Hard to advise, can you turn the cooler 180°? It should fit, otherwise you can take it up with Fortis. The other option is to file away some material from the VRM heatsinks, but that seems a bit extreme and you would invalidate the motherboard warranty.

The reason I suggest rotating it is because it doesn't look symmetrical at the bottom - see image

thats actually a good suggestion, even so i think its another problem then u might think. my problem is this (yellow):

but as it looks like, at the red marker, its also different there.
but then the fan is mounted on the side with the "hole" instead of the flat site.
dont know if thats bad idea or not 😄

but huge thanks for the reply, guess im gonna try it

Ok, so just tried it. Idle temps are 3-5 °C lower. Now it fits with the cooler but the fan is blocked by all 4 RAM-Slots. Still tried it, minimal better Cinebench result, only difference is that only after 30 seconds it hits thermal throttle on 2 cores instead of instantly, but others are also close to 100°C. I already ordered a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 SE yesterday, looking forward how it fits on tuesday evening and gonna check with cinebench again.

Vey odd that the fit is difficult. New fan sounds like a plan then. Frustrating!

just for information:
Installed the Thermaltake Peerless Assassin 120 SE today, Cooler fits but the right fan is colliding with all 4 RAM-Slots little bit. But its looking okay, specially with the cooling power this beast has. Same test in Cinebench and instead of hitting thermal throttle the temps are arround 80-85°C. Highest Peaks on Core 1 and Core 3 were at 87°C.
So everything fine now and stays at it is now.

Hello michek,

You can raise the fan up a little to clear the memory sticks.
