ROG MAXIMUS Z790 HERO- Cpu core/cache current limit?

Dear Experts,

I would like to inquire about the recommended default CPU Core Cache Current Limit for an i7-13700K with multicore enhancement disabled (BIOS Version 1803)

After watching a video by JayzTwoCents (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s43Auv8ub7w), where a 13900K was used and the setting was mentioned as 360A with MCE off, I am surprised to find that my system is set to 500A. Is this normal for default settings?

Thank you!

Yes i have Z790-II same value default 511.xx amps set  it 360A or 307A but second value will throttle Clocks on Load but.. but good temps.

im really disappointed with jayztwocents with his RAM video and the MCE /power limits your talking about.

dont worry. you have an extremely overbuilt motherboard that is easily able to handle 500+ amps. if you had a low end/budget motherboard then it would be an issue. but you do not

intel wants you to run the cpu at a high power limit as pl2 but you can keep pl1 at 253 (these settings are AUTO let BIOS optimize)

jayztwocents video was just honestly really irresponsible. he even said in his video that asus was  putting vcore at 1.28v which is not a lot at all and he admitted it(think about how many people are doing fixed vcore  overclocking at 1.35v+)

what he was trying to say if your cooling solution/hardware is not good enough and your not getting the clockspeed because of it then you should turn off MCE. but if you have a decent 360mm AIO just let the bios optimize and lift power limits so you get more performance for free.

Current CPUs are Overheating? The Honest Opinion of an Intel Engineer (youtube.com)

honestly this is a very good video where derbauer interviews the guy who made how thermals work in intel cpus for over 10 years. very informative what they wanted when making this cpu. the TL;DR is if your running all core heavy workloads you not being at 100c is losing performance and thus not getting the performance you paid for.

again. very disappointed in jay for the misinformation and fear mongering. he even says in an earlier build to let the limits go up when he built a pc with a 13900k

What to do AFTER you build your PC... Updated for 2023 (youtube.com)

he starts talking about it at the 21 minute mark

again. very disappointed in him.

Thank you for your reply; I will keep MCE on. Just out of curiosity: Does disabling MCE set the Amps to 360 (which is not the case for my system)?

you turn off mce then restart your computer?

Yes. It is set to 500A then and PL2 to 253W (instead of 511.xx an >4000W with MCE on)

253W is = mce off if you have 360aio you can leave it on auto mce and current it will not affect gaming ... maybe The finals game that use more CPU.

If you have thermal problems go 307A or little less so you will keep cpu cool under load it will drop clocks but ... like second comment says If its not reaching 100C then is fine.. but ... i will keep CPU under 85C on all load scenario.

I have 360aio and no thermal issues at all. Just was curious  what affects CPU Core Cache Current Limit and or what the intel specs are. Cannot find anything about it online and or intel homepage.
