I just tried to flash my Hero with 1403 and got "The selected file is not UEFI BIOS"... I've seen others get this message but never seen it myself until today.

Whenever I get this message I copy the bios to a flash drive formatted to Fat32 and it works.

Rebooted into bios again and now, whenever I try to flash, it just reboots my system. I should know better than to trust ANYTHING on 4/1!

I just updated my STRIX E Gaming succesfully. Just like with version 1003, Intel MEI firmware was NOT updated. Why Asus keeps stating in release notes it should get updated, is beyond me. You can go wrong one time, if you do it twice there's clearly something wrong.

Flashed to this image, BIOS seemed to look ok. Reset to defaults.

Tried booting into Windows 11 off my M.2, hard system crash.

Attempted to boot into my USB Recovery Drive, hard system crash again.

Reverted BIOS. Everything is working again :S

I'm staying on 1304 as it seems 1403 is a regression in ram stability.

The IMEI not updating was also a problem in a previous BIOS, I had to do it manually.

My hero board simply would not run properly with any bios over 811
I ended up binning it and buying a max extreme - now it’s runs as it should
Without any disrespect the hero board is a bag of crap, I wasted 500 quid on it to my mind*

1403 is a horrible release, when is something new going to be available?
