i will use this as a collection of test bioses/tools/info targeted towards Raptorlake + z69/790

NOTE for Z690: You must update ME on your Z690 to properly support raptorlake (if you are on dual bioses then you need to do this to both bioses)

1) d/l and install ME driver
https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/03CHIPSET/DRV_MEI_Intel_Cons_ADL_TP_W11_64_V2229320_20220809B....

2) update ME with ME Update Tool (I know there are newer versions but its not up on Asus official site yet so >= this version is fine)
https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/03CHIPSET/MEUpdateTool_16.1.25.1885_T.zip

3) update to Latest BIOS of your choice

Note 2 for Z690: i have some Z690s that are already LOW in battery so you are advised to use a new Battery during this upgrade.

I am testing that same GSkill 7600 kit on this MZ790E and with bios 0803. I had the same issue with the board failing Ramtest after 20 minutes. I gradually decreased SAV to 1.15V and now no errors. Noticed errors in Ramtest after 27 minutes by decreasing the SAV to 1.20V. After further reducing the SAV, it appears stable. Ramtest is over 2 hours currently and over 10000% with no errors at SAV=1.15V. *

Thanks for the insight. Working well here on a different board.

Had the exact same problem with Gskill 7600 on Z790 Hero. Could not run XMPI or higher. Tried adjusting voltages, IMC, SA with no luck. But 7400 ran perfect. The solution? Buy TeamGroup 7200 and overclock to 7600 or buy Teamgroup 7600 and run at XMPI no problem. I have both sets and can verify they work great. Gskill ram can be very inconsistent.

This was with Bios 0703
*Results may be better with test bios' on this forum.

Thank you ... you are right !!!

I did use the new 0803 Bios with the TeamGroup 7200 sticks @7600MTs ... and they did work so there seems to be a problem with the G.Skill sticks, they did work so far on the APEX but not on the Extreme.

Dear All,

I am building a new PC and ordered ROG STRIX Z690-G GAMING Wi-Fi along with a new i5 13600kf CPU.
I read the support page and forums. ASUS instructs to update Intel ME first. However my problem is that I am building a new PC so I dont have windows installed to download and update Intel ME first.

Is it safe that I follow these procedures for smooth install:
1-Flash update BIOS without CPU via USB to the 2103 version. (nothing mounted on motherboard yet, only PSU)
2-Mount i5 13600kf CPU and other components then boot. (hopefully to get past POST)
3-Install windows 11 pro to NVM SDD disk (only disk)
4-Then update Intel ME

Second question:
If I follow the above procedure, is there an embedded latest Intel ME within the 2103 latest BIOS?

What do you suggest for this scenario? Which steps do I need to follow? (p.s.: I dont have any other 12th gen CPU lying around)

I followed that same sequence with my similar build. It is impossible to do as Asus instruct in this scenario. The system will not boot until you do the BIOS upgrade via USB flashback. By the way, it is OK to install the CPU before updating the BIOS as the flashback process ignores the CPU. Might make for a more convenient build.

Thank you for the reply. Sorry, in order not to create confusion and for me to understand better;

Did you follow the exact procedure in my original post and able to install windows with drives and GPU recognized? Then updated the Intel ME?

So I assume I am safe to with this procedure.

Almost, but for pure convenience I assembled most of the system first.

1. Assembled system with main components; CPU, memory, NVMe.
2. Used USB flashback to update BIOS.
3. Installed Windows 11.
4. Installed drivers, updated firmware; ME, Audio, USB
5. Added GPU card.

Great news. Finally, can you also post your specs and build components?

Already in my profile.

Very Nice-Z790 is the bomb! Moved to Z790 Apex and got the TG 7600 to 7800@1.4v stable but hit a brick wall @ >=8000. Maybe IMC isn't up to par? Don't get me wrong, I'm stoked. 13th gen + Asus Z790= happiness! My IMC SP=61 (13900KF). IMC SP on my 12900KS=55. 12900ks would boot 8000 but no way stable. Tested for hours and I'm done, just no headway. 13900k gets stuck on boot code '26' >= 8000 ....which I guess its just reading my cpu temp and not progressing? Don't know? .....anyone? Loosened up every timing I can think of, increased Dimm V and still no cigar. Happy Holidays!
