i will use this as a collection of test bioses/tools/info targeted towards Raptorlake + z69/790

NOTE for Z690: You must update ME on your Z690 to properly support raptorlake (if you are on dual bioses then you need to do this to both bioses)

1) d/l and install ME driver
https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/03CHIPSET/DRV_MEI_Intel_Cons_ADL_TP_W11_64_V2229320_20220809B....

2) update ME with ME Update Tool (I know there are newer versions but its not up on Asus official site yet so >= this version is fine)
https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/03CHIPSET/MEUpdateTool_16.1.25.1885_T.zip

3) update to Latest BIOS of your choice

Note 2 for Z690: i have some Z690s that are already LOW in battery so you are advised to use a new Battery during this upgrade.

For the Z790 Apex, "out of the box" should we go with bios 0703 or 0801?

For overclocking the Gskill 7600 mem kit?

Thanks. 🙂

Eh, it's OK, not really an OC motherboard anyway.

Z790 APEX installed this morning

96317

UEFI Hynix 2x16 SR 7600MT memory preset no trouble (801).

1.4 VDD/VDDQ/TX

MC VDD 1.35v

all other voltages are board controlled.

96315

Quick 8000MT stability with some manual concessions to sub-timings. Effortless!

1.44 VDD/VDDQ/TX

@Shamino: can you please check and re-upload the Z690 TUF D4 WiFi file?

Can you Post some AIDA64 Benchmarktests? What was the READ Speed?

All these Apex boards running 7600+ has me real tempted to return my Z790 Extreme and pick one of these up instead... Feeling like i got swindled 😞

2DPC board vs 1DPC. No assurances with these things. Recommend opting for a ratio 1 or 2 notches below the maximum validation for best possible chance of plug and play.

Â*After struggling with Z690 boards with memory stability, this new MZ790E is quite stable with GSkill 7200 memory on XMP tweaked mode. Works great. But since this is a 4 DIMM board, wonder if it is worth trying a 7600 kit? There is a GSkill kit at 7600 on the QVL for the MZ790E. 7800 kit is on the QVL as well. Perhaps a little more or less on the SAV? Likely a case of diminishing returns.

Shamino thanks for all of your hard work. I got my Apex delivered and installed last night. Running 8000 CL36 at default 1.4v DIMM voltages and auto everything else. Stable and working flawlessly with the XMP Tweaked profile.

Using 7600 CL36 GSkill kit for reference.

Any major changes are in the 0802 BIOS? Should I bother testing/flashing since I'm on 0801.

are you sure that this is stable? i don't think 1.4V is enough for 8000 CL36
