i will use this as a collection of test bioses/tools/info targeted towards Raptorlake + z69/790

NOTE for Z690: You must update ME on your Z690 to properly support raptorlake (if you are on dual bioses then you need to do this to both bioses)

1) d/l and install ME driver

2) update ME with ME Update Tool (I know there are newer versions but its not up on Asus official site yet so >= this version is fine)

3) update to Latest BIOS of your choice

Note 2 for Z690: i have some Z690s that are already LOW in battery so you are advised to use a new Battery during this upgrade.

Not sure thats good advice because the microcode protects you for issues. How would you protect your cpu for the issue fixed in this new bios?

Hello! I think there may be a big problem with the XMP settings on the 2602 bios for the Z790 Hero. Every time I enable it, I get terrible performance on my 14900KF. CPU frequency gets locked at 5700MHz, but temps won't go above 60c (I'm used to 90c on heavy workloads like Cinebench). I did a full bios reset with F5, saving, full power down and making sure the system had no power left. Cinebench multithread was around 2000pts, but now struggles to go above 1000pts.

Downgrading to bios 2503 seems to have fixed this - alternatively using no XMP on the new Bios has better performance but nowhere near the 2503 bios XMP.
