i will use this as a collection of test bioses/tools/info targeted towards Raptorlake + z69/790
NOTE for Z690: You must update ME on your Z690 to properly support raptorlake (if you are on dual bioses then you need to do this to both bioses)
1) d/l and install ME driver
https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/03CHIPSET/DRV_MEI_Intel_Cons_ADL_TP_W11_64_V2229320_20220809B....
2) update ME with ME Update Tool (I know there are newer versions but its not up on Asus official site yet so >= this version is fine)
https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/03CHIPSET/MEUpdateTool_16.1.25.1885_T.zip
3) update to Latest BIOS of your choice
Note 2 for Z690: i have some Z690s that are already LOW in battery so you are advised to use a new Battery during this upgrade.

continue to my post^ 2002 same result as all after 0816... and i found one more thing, all new after mention bios in mem test show 28.8g/s 0816 show 28.9 i noticed that too many time for not remember. so after 0816 bioses i guess change not only voltages or and voltage calibrated in some parameters but set other timings, somewhere more somewhere less, but as result all of them show same 28.8 instead of 28.9 in 0816... btw what the strange numbers. in windows test in aida it's show close to 100 i don't remember really 70-80-90 but any way far from 28... same as jedec after first restart from 3600 0816 set 4800 same as in jedec config. all new bioses set 4200

XMP running on G.SKILL DDR5 6400 is very unstable
i9-13900KF
rog z790 apex (BIOS 2002)
g.skill ddr5 64gb 6400
I just want to stabilize my 6400 to play games, but it always freezes or crashes~~~
Running the default 4800 is no problem at all...
In other words, XMP I II preset by the board alone cannot be stable...
I don’t know much about the BIOS parameter settings related to overclocking. Can you share the manual settings for this set of RAM?
03-05-2024 05:42 AM
That’s crazy you’re unstable at only 6400. Try turning XMP off. I’d try getting another set of ram to see if the Simms are bad. If it’s still bad then it’s either cpu or motherboard issue.

i would try raising vdd 0.05v ata time from 1.35v to 1.40 then 1.45v then 1.50v / same for vddq try 1.40 -1.50 / imc mem controler try 1.45- 1.50 / find the sweet spot for vcssaa start 1.15 then 1.16 then 1.17 then 1.18 all the way up to 1.30v use vst y cruncher to dial in imc if u can cool it watch temps
i used this methodt to dilain team groups extreme ddr5 48gb kit to 8,400 c36 its doing 49 ns passes vst / tm5 ect

I haven't touched anything except vdd and vddq~ I'm not very familiar with BIOS parameter settings~ Is there a way to tell me through BIOS pictures or clear options and numbers how to fine-tune it? I just remember this Tiao feels disappointed~even 6400 cannot run steadily...

Memory test or stability test?
Memory: memtest86
Stability: Karhu / tm5 / y-cruncher 90min vst3
But all stability tests is torment the system... Keep an eye on CPU and Memory temp
03-06-2024 01:52 AM
I've only used Karhu RAM Test for some years now and haven't experienced issues. For a gaming system, 4000-6000% coverage should be ample.

little p.s. before i get ex rig i watch test same memory speed and capacity 1 and 2 kits. 4 sticks was faster. so i get 4 3600... same as i did this time with 6400. now is haven't any sense because today we can found one kit 64gb 8000+ with very good timings, or 48gb even faster. with absolutely 0 chance for have something close with two kits with all luck on the planet. so for now, exactly for now for sure 1 kit will ever better than 2... but same capacity same frequency and same latency will ever faster with 2 kits:) but this is insanity, because too much depend of luck and have a limit as i guess is 6400 for two kits. or we have to set crazy high latency. actually i could in 2018 when get 9700k rig take 4200 kits. but price was insane high lol and if i'd push 2 4200 kits in that system i'd never had that speed with 2 kits ever. same as we can not have 7000 two kits with ddr5 whatever we will do. if i remember right i saw on youtube one guy set two kits 6600 with some tricky timings. but i'm o.k. with 6400:) in next upgrade i will try to not be so crazy. so i guess 6400 can not be worse than another if from the box two kits works. if not torture bios with upgrade to every next version lol
