RAM not running at 3200 even after enabling XMP.

Hoping someone can help me out as I'm at a loss.

I've gone through the posts and tried what has been suggested to fix the issue, but for some reason, I can't get my RAM to operate at the 3200 it's supposed to. (it's sitting at 2133).

So, I went into the Bios for my PRIME B760M-A D4 mobo, enabled XMP, checked in the AI Tweeker that it was selecting DDR4-3200, and that it's voltage was at 1.5.

Reboot and checked the dashboard in Armory Crate.  It shows DRAM (32GB & 2133) and the DRAM voltage is still showing at 1.2v.

Also, when I got back into the BIOS, it shows that is recognized the 3200, but only shows the 2133 in both channels.

According to everything I've read what I've done should have overclocked it to the correct values.

I've checked the bios, it's running the most current version - 1220

I've checked the chip, it's compatable - i5-13600K

I've checked the mobo, it's also compatable. (see above)

The RAM is G.Skill TridentZ RGB DDR4-3200 16GBx2.

I'm hoping that I'm just missing something easy and this can be fixed.

So, final post for this issue.

I took one of the machines down to Memory Express for some professional assistance. They did all the tests I did, and checked both sets of RAM. Turns out that between the time I purchased the parts and they updated the bios for me at the start of September, and now ASUS put out a BIOS update that corrected this problem.

Download the update. Flash the BIOS, and enable XMP. Everything works great and task manager/ HWInfo shows the 3200 I should be getting.

One note.. having HWInfo already installed was handy for them as well.

I'm sorry if this is a stupid thing to suggest, but if the BIOS changes did not work, I'm wondering if you selected 'save changes and exit' in the BIOS? It really should be as simple as just turning on XMP. 

Another possibility is that you need a new motherboard battery. That could also explain why settings are going back to defaults.

Shouldn't need a new Mobo battery as the mobo is brand new and it's got a lithium cmos battery.  Also, it's saved the changes I made when I switched it to XMP.

You said that you set XMP, the voltage was at 1.5 and after a reboot it went back to 1.2V (with XMP off again I assume). So if the settings were not saved and it's not the battery, then I don't know why that would happen. 

In your second post you say that it did save the changes when you switched to XMP. So I'm not understanding what the problem is. So XMP is enabled now?

Thanks for replying.  The voltage never went to the 1.35 if was set to... XMP was always on.  When I jump into the bios, it shows the following.

Notice that XMP is enabled and recognizing the DDR4-3200, but both DIMMs are showing 2133.

I'm at a loss for what the problem could be... 

That seems odd. Have you tried manually setting the RAM frequency in advanced mode? Try that first and see if the setting stays. If it does, then you might have to set the voltage manually as well. Are all of your settings on BIOS defaults apart from XMP?

Probably not related, but have you installed the Windows MEI drivers and do you have the latest ME firmware?

I have tried, but it doesn't seem to do anything.  I've got the new MEI drivers and the latest firmware from Armory Crate.

As for everything in the Bios, yea, it's all default stuff.  I haven't overclocked anything before, and I don't really want to screw anything up this time around.

As another point, I've got the exact same issue in another computer I just built with the exact same parts... so it's not a one off issue with the ram/ mobo.

For those that replied or are interested, I've created a support ticket with Asus and hopefully they can replicate the issue and give me a fix/ work around.  I'll post here when I hear back.

I am having excactly the same problem with my B760 motherboard.

I recently bougt the  ASUS TUF GAMING B760-PLUS WIFI D4 , an Intel Core i5-13500, and a memory kit with Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 3200MHz 32GB (2x16 GB)

I can only get 2133 mhz speed whatever i try. Enabled XMP and set speed to 3200 (even tried lower speeds) .Tried different ram slots, but  now i use A2 and B2 slots as recommended. Bios is latest (1220)

 

Tried 2 other sets of RAM , but get the same problem:

Corsair Vengeance LPX DDR4 2666 MHz 2x8GB

Kingston FURY Beast DDR4 3600MHz 2x16 GB

So i will follow your post and am curious to what answer you get from  Asus Support. 😊
