RAM help

SEBassman

HI,

I hope someone can help me with a RAM suggestion. I have just purchased an ASUS ROG Strix Z690-E Gaming WiFi 6E LGA 1700 Intel ATX gaming motherboard. We will be using an Intel Core i7-12700KF - Core i7 12th Gen Alder Lake 12-Core (8P+4E) 3.6 GHz LGA 1700 125W Intel UHD Graphics 770 Desktop Processor.  A WD Black SN850X 2TB Internal M.2 SSD. A MSI GeForce RTX 4070 GAMING X SLIM 12G Graphics card. With all the different Venders RAM in the QVL which RAM would work best with this hardware straight up or over clocked?

Thank you for your time and help.

HI, Yes DDR5. Any specific latency better? I have used G-skill before worked good. Corsair,  Kingston. All have work good but I primarily build office machines out of heavy duty parts like ROG. This one is for my grandsons 16th birthday so I thought I would ask those that are into gaming and maybe do use over clocking. And might know the pitfalls of doing this. Or if it is even worth Overclocking.

I thank you again for your reply and input.

Hi SEBassman
I suggest Gskill DDR5 6000mhz 2x16 OR 2x32 (30 latency).
Not sure if the 6400mhz one work on XMPI and 12th Gen. Prob. u get bluescreens or errors, idk.
Official its 2x32 max 6000mhz supported.
I also had good exp. with Kingston Fury 5200mhz 2x16 (40 latency). Worked flawless in XMPI
I dont suggest Corsair RAM. We had many DOA or part-fail RAM in the past....
Hope this helps 🙂
Have a good time!

HI,

I am looking at

G.SKILL Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series (AMD Expo) DDR5 RAM 64GB (2x32GB) 6000MT/s CL30-40-40-96 1.40V Desktop Computer Memory UDIMM - Matte Black (F5-6000J3040G32GX2-TZ5NR) iS LISTED ON THE QVL. Anyone have problems with this RAM?

I use these nonNEO RAM atm. Using Z690 Extreme i9 12900k and Bios 3302.
Its a bit tricky. It seems some of these RAM (charge, product-series, different components-supplier maybe)
have a Problem in combination of BIOS, ASUS MB and maybe Windows 11 idk.
I had only troubles with one pair. Bluescreen and errors all the time. Memtest86 and other simple test-softwares found no errors or defectives. I didnt test with professional labor-software.

So, i bought exactly the same ones again and since then, everything works flawless without a single bluescreen or error.

Tl;dr: Superior RAM, compatible in XMPI, no problems in in general!

HI, Thanks for the reply. The only this that concerned me it this statement, " Trident Z5 Neo RGB Series, designed for AMD X670 Series Chipset with Ryzen 7000 Series CPU or newer" . I am using Intel I7 12700. With a Z690 Chipset on the ROG Strix Z690-E. Did not want to get RAM intended for AMD.

Thanks,

Yep ur right. I not recognized the NEO... NEO are for AMD Boards and the NON-Neo for Intel Boards.
NEO is for AMD EXPO overclocking.
I have these ones:

G.Skill Trident Z5 RGB 2 x 32GB, 6000 MHz, DDR5-RAM, DIMM
