Problems with Z790 Dark Hero since Intel Microcode Update

Hi there,

i have massive System instabilities since i flashed the newest BIOS on my Maximus Z790 Dark Hero.

I installed the latest win 11, but cant run all updates etc. pp.

And somebody deleted my Asus Driver Stick.. Is there anybody who could get me a copy of that Stick online?
There are more drivers than at the Mainboard Support Site.

Thanks in advance

Mike

Go the 'Downloads for Motherboards' section in this forum. MokiChU provides everything you need and of course, all drivers are bang up to date.

hi @Mike911 I have the exact same board as yours (see my signature) but I never plugged by ASUS USB Drive. I have used the official board's support page and everything is getting installed properly even in a fully disconnected setup with no internet access and without Armoury Crate software. See https://rog-forum.asus.com/t5/gaming-motherboards/can-asus-support-fix-realtek-audio-drivers-with-bo... post showing a full recording of installing Windows 11 on my machine in an AIR GAP (disconnected from Internet) setup. I did this setup to work with ASUS Customer support team.

If you still need a copy of what's on the drive, let me know and I will try to send it across to you although I don't think you need it.

Hi @Mike911

Make sure to keep XMP disabled when installing updates and restest memory stability when convinient. Microcode and ME firmware updates have the potential to break overclocking stability depending on the CPU and how conditional the OC was previously.

Run all the updates from the support site and then test stability with Karhu Ramtest or Memtestpro when reenabling XMP.

i did - just installed an factory default settings.... i dont know. propably my 14900K is done

If the CPU is unstable at factory default, I would contact Intel.

Hi @Mike911, you can also try removing all but 1 memory stick so that you have a stick in A2 slot only. You have not provided detailed information about your system and your problem in terms of what do you mean by unstable.

You will see here that people are having issues in very specific games or tasks but in general things work fine unless it is a memory issue.

One person here also found that turning of TVB helped with stability. This individual has their CPU delided so it might be very specific to that individual's problem.

These are some of things you can try before you start Intel RMA process because if the problem is elsewhere then a new CPU is also not going to solve anything for you.
