Intel really dropped the ball with the LGA1700 mounting mechanism / clamp, in my opinion. It's just not fit for purpose, from an engineering point of view, since it's quite clearly right on the limit for being able to do the job properly. It has caused a lot of people unnecessary difficulty. Boards are naturally going to warp/flex a little in the real world, so they should have done better when enlarging it from LGA1200.
