Noticed a PD FW update tool and installed it. I guess it worked correctly. Not sure what it is for.

Hello Hopper64,

The PD FW update tool is for updating your USB-C port, USB Power Delivery. The recent change log: -Modify quick charge function. and -Improve system performance.

Thanks. I thought it might have something to do with USB based on a quick search after my last post. Appreciate the confirmation Braegnok. 🙂

I've just done the firmware update and all went fine. I used to get keyboard/mouse freezes (50% of the time) when plugging in my CFEXpress card reader to USB C. It's not the reader, as the same thing used to happen with another reader that I had.

I just tried plugging it in again a few more times and the keyboard lights flashed briefly on one occasion, but no freezes. Bit early to tell for sure, but stability seems to be better for me.

I also noticed that PD firmware version is listed on the main BIOS page. The flash tool confirmed that I had v0016 just like your image, but the BIOS screen (Cypress PD firmware) says 1220 from memory. Anyway, sure it's fine, just an observation.

EDIT: Just realised that USBC and Thunderbolt are not technically quite the same thing. That would explain it!

My Asus Dark Hero.. i cant see anything related to Cypress PD Firmware.  On my main page, i see it list it as: TI PD Firmware version...
