PC doesn't boot when PCIe network card installed

Hi there,

I have a Prime B760M-K D4 mobo and TP-Link Archer T5E PCIe adapter. I was able to use the adapter for two weeks, but after updating the BIOS to the latest version (1002), this boot problem occured. USB ports are not powering up (no lights at keyboard, mouse or flash drive), all black screen when HDMI is plugged into the mobo, no ASUS logo or else, just black screen. If I plug the HDMI cable to the GPU, there is no signal in the monitor. Everything is OK when the network adapter is uninstalled. Tried to boot into the safe mode by powering down the PC after and after like the way advised by Microsoft here. But it broke my Windows installation and had to do a fresh install. What should I do to fix this problem, is there a setting in BIOS or else ?

Thanks in advance

Hello,

It's not unheard of for TPLink devices to cause driver issues on OS handoff, but if the system isn't even getting as far as POST that indicates something else. Are any of the Q-LEDs lit on the board when this happens (normally emit orange)?

I couldnot see any on-board LEDs on the mobo. This part of the Q-LED Core FAQ doc indicates my problem is based on M.2 SSD bc the LED on the power button of my case is lit for 4 seconds and after stays off for 4 seconds. But I double checked it and the advised solution didnot work out for me. M.2 is working when the network card is uninstalled anyways. Tried to clear the CMOS by short-circuit CLRTC pins and putting of the battery, it didnot work out either.

Have you tried installing the adapter in both PCIEX1(G4)_1 and _2 slots?

Yes sir

Strange. May wish to check out the FAQ here

However, if the system is POST'ing without the adapter installed it very much seems like that's where the fault lies.

Yea it may be the adapter faulty but it's strange that problem started right after the BIOS update. As I mentioned before, it was running successfully for two weeks, so I thought main reason should be related to the update. However I just sent the card to the TP-Link service and waiting for test results. I'll let you guys know about the result.

Hello again,

TP-Link just sent me the network card and the test results show it's just fine. There is no adapter faulty.

Are there any new suggestions to fix ?

Afraid not. Have you found any other cases online with this issue using the same adapter? You may need to contact service for your region.
