Hello, I cannot find a Z790 Apex mainboard in the lineup.
Is it not planned for this generation?

Hi,

I will let the ASUS staff answer more precisely if they can, but there is evidence that it was tested in September (with a preliminary/test BIOS 0057) with G.Skill RAM kits :

Gskill has 7200 and 7600 2dimm kits launching soon, possibly next week with the Z790 Extreme and Z790 Hero which are both mem spec'd at 7800+. WOW! 🙂

The Z790 Apex should be mem spec'd at 7800+ also, and possibly higher.

This is the 2nd page of that Intel chart that was posted briefly then removed from the .pdf file, clearly showing 7200 7466 and 7600 kits.

These Gskill kits below 7200 and 7600 posted at the manufacturer's website only yesterday. I'm grabbing the 7600 kit for my upcoming Z790 Apex board.

The Apex will give you the best possible chance of overclocking the 7600 kit to 8000 or maybe even 8200, WOWIE!

Yes, these mem kits are on the way, and I'm excited. 🙂

Its mentioned here

Extreme, Hero and Strix first out it seems.

I guess maybe because of the issues Z690 Apex had, i dont know.

some play with this from lots of months already =))

looks like Z690 2022 edition

it would be a nice surprise to have an Apex running properly now after the big Z690 fail...
forget OC & other fancy stuff, to run XMP daily is really a challenge nowadays

Z790 Apex coming soon as mentioned in the North America video.

6800MHz (6000C36 Samsung GSKILL) on launch day Apex here. XMP is overclocking, by the way.

I see a link for Australia to buy a Z790 Apex. Could be fake or it could be ASUS is getting ready to announce this?

Any chance they can be ordered in the US on the 20th?

I doubt so. But what I guess by this time all board release on that day already arrived at the warehouse for the master distributor. Just waiting for the day.

I'd like to share your optimism and expectations...
hopefully the Z790 will be indeed a Z690 fix... and some lessons were learned in the end
if now they have 7200-7600 XMP, then 6400 shouldn't be a problem... got mine already, waiting =))

had no luck on any Asus board so far, not even using high quality KS processors, just the KingPin seems to swallow it w/o any issues
I'm still using Z490 & 10900K as my daily/gaming rig!

Z690 is still a mess IMHO... it's unacceptable to have a lottery on motherboards as well... apparently not just the boards manufactured in 2021 have problems, but some of the 2022 too... it was not enough that XMP above 6000 was a hit & miss thing, combination with a 4090 is also tricky

honestly, I would be happy if Z790 will handle well the XMP above 6000MHz - ok, let's call this as well overclocking because officially... it is 🙂
KingPin is also nice to have it if you are a bench guy but not so friendly on a daily use...
apparently Asrock won't release 2 dimm Z790 mobos...
maybe it's another sign to just wait Meteor for half a year or so...
