New Z790 1501 Beta BIOS not good enough - still have memory issues.

I hope there will be further improvements to the latest 1501 beta BIOS before it goes into the next general release version.

I’ve had to RMA/refund a STRIX Z790-H due to major crashes with approved QVL RAM (F5-7200J3445G16GX2-TZ5RK). In a last ditch effort I flashed from 1402 to 1501 beta and no change. I tried a different pair of QVL sticks - no change. I tried all sorts of settings for XMP I, XMP II, XMP Tweaked to AUTO - no change. Reseated 14600KF and memory obviously - no change. Still freezes immediately on Prime95 and failed memtest86 in the same spots. No CPU overclocks.

I have a replacement coming tomorrow - a STRIX Z790-F.

I already have another Z790-F / 14900KF and am seeing some instability on it as well in certain games, with approved QVL RAM (F5-7200J3445G16GX2-TZ5RK) at all memory speeds including AUTO. No CPU overclocks. Tried different memory on it as well.

This is pretty frustrating as I’ve spent many thousands refreshing 2 separate machines.

What is with ASUS lately on this instability stuff?

Is there something funky about running new 14th gen KF CPUs on the older non “II” Z790 boards?

Tearing my hair out here.

UPDATE: BAD CPU! After replacing everything in the system multiple times, I finally exchanged the 14600KF for another one and it fixed all my issues. NOT a BIOS problem and NOT a seating/mounting issue.

Well, I got the new 14600KF replacement in from Amazon a few hours ago.  Swapped it out and... voila!!!!!

No more freezing immediately running Prime and no memtest86 failures/freezing!  It was absolutely a bad CPU out of the box.

Wow. What a relief. Nothing to show any damage or anything - the thing must've been reseated about 6 times on 2 different motherboards with zero difference between the reseats.  This new one is acting perfectly.  I guess 1501 might be a good BIOS afterall.

I ordered a new Z790-F Gaming WIFI II 2023 board just in case... I guess I better return that, lol.

I'd still like to figure out why a certain game keeps crashing on my other Z790-F board running my 14900KF.  That system passes memtest86, no issues in Prime, but it crashes this older game - that never happened on my old 9900K system running Win11.  It's not a Win11 problem, it's a new intel system problem.

Anybody else still having issues with the 1501 BIOS(s)?

I recently purchased a ROG Z790-F, an i7 14700K and 4 x 16GB of Corsair Dominator DDR5.

I started getting all sorts of different BSOD's or just restarts. MEMTEST failed from test 7. Over 100 errors in one pass. The first thing I did was change from XMP II to Auto and have no problem. I have not started searching yet. Should I flash back to the old BIOS and try to XMP II or have others had similar problems

No issues here on 1501. 8200-8400MT on Z790 Apex.

What have you tried in terms of tuning?

My motherboard is Z790 APEX. I have installed the BIOS 1501 BETA version before and it is running stably. Now I see that 1501 is officially launched~ But when I compare the file creation dates, they all seem to be the same~ Do I need to update again?

No, no need.

Weird, I have no issue at all on my Z790 Hero with F5-7200J3445G running @7400 on XMP Tweaked.

Well got the brand new STRIX Z790-F installed… and insta-FREEZE on Prime95 and memtest86 on 2 different known-good QVL memory pairs. So I’ve now swapped every component except the CPU (14600KF). I’ve never had a bum Intel CPU before - and I’ve had about 100 of em.

New replacement 14600KF gets here tomorrow. If THAT doesn’t fix it I’ll flip out. I had to have gotten one of the worst 14600KF there are to freeze at any memory speed.

I’ll reply with my findings tomorrow.

I just purchased a new configuration and facing the same issues with 14th gen CPUs.
A lot of memory errors. It's unstable even without XMP enabled and it's instant crash with XMP enabled. Lowered the RAM down to 3600mhz just to get it to work and still getting regular crashes. Already tried with different RAM and it's the same and also tried both RAMs in another system and they work fine

Strix Z790-H, G.Skill Trident Z5 6000mhz 30CL DDR5, i9-14900k

Was hoping on the 1501 BIOS update but it's still the same.
