New Pc build shuts itself off (Z790A gaming Wi-Fi ii)

I have a new build:

  • i9-14900KF

  • ROG Strix Z790A Wifi ii

  • RTX 4060ti

  • 700W PSU

After setting up everything and starting the PC, it runs for a while and then the PC shuts itself off.

The AMI screen comes and there it shows the CPU but when pressing F1 for Setup the screen goes black and the PC shuts itself off after 4-5 seconds. Meanwhile the CPU light on the MB is red.

One thing is, the MB has 2 CPU power sockets with 8 pins but the PSU only has 1 cable with 8 pins. However afaik it should be enough to have one 8pin power cable in. Could this be the issue? Do I need to get a new PSU?

Hi,

If the PC is shutting down after awhile initially but only 4 to 5 seconds after the first incident it could indicate a thermal event.

Please check your cooling solution and thermal paste application before proceeding to power up the system again and report back.

If possible, both ESP12V connectors should be connected, however, one connector is sufficient if not overclocking.
