Well put, I had the XFX 7900XTX with the 13900K. When my 13900K died, I was forced to downgrade to the 14700K because the 14900K was not available at the time and I needed my PC to work.
The 7900XTX is a beast, 24gigs of VRAM, in raster it is basically second only to the RTX 4090. But it is a power hungry, hot, and unfortunately loud card.
I just sold my 7900 XTX and got the PNY RTX 4080 Super. While the 7900 XTX was slightly faster in most non-RT titles, the 4080 Super is running much cooler, has no where near the power draw of the 7900 XTX, and my whole system seems more efficient. It is also silent, where as my 7900 XTX needed the fans high to keep it cool during gaming and I had to set custom curves.
Point is, the 7900 XTX is a lot like the 13th and 14th Gen Intel CPU's. In order to hang in there with Nvidia, AMD had to crank up the power draw. Intel was ahead of all AMD CPUs, but they were pushing dangerous voltage levels to do so.
Right now, the best combo for less power draw and efficiency is AMD CPU, and Nvidia GPU. I am sure Intel learned it's lesson and the upcoming Intel CPUs will be much more efficient.

Well...
From the beginning I see how some people are on anabolics on the benchmarks, and Intel advised me to turn off the MCE
But still, it's not nice to see yourself going backwards.

You have gotta be kidding me.. asus releases the non beta version bios and we do the update… all of a sudden they take it back? Without a proper explanation? Talk about reliability!
All of this 13900/14900 issue and asus are making me lose my trust in the future
you pay for something expensive and you can expect the best results and what we get is a waste of 1 year full of problems and headaches
so sick of this

you need to tone it down a notch, it couldve been a mistake, there couldve been a bug that released, it coudlve been a lot of things. if your so keen on updating just update to the beta bios. if you dont then just wait.

Tone it down?
am sorry i dont know what your system is and if you are facing any problelms which i hope not.
i have been dealing with this more than a year now having dark hero mother board and 14900k doesnt come cheap where you expect something far better for the amount you paid for.
Not mentioning the time wasted following up with bios updates and solutions and so on.
So am not gonna tone down until i see a solution.

BIOS 1703 is available for most of the boards, including the Z790-E Gaming WIFI II (which I have).
Arguing over things or complaining is not going to fix anything, no one is a victim. Nvidia, AMD, and Intel have all blundered over the years (ever hear of RTX 4090 starting on fire?).
Yes, it is sad we went backwards and our "current fastest" CPU took a little hit. But at least Intel is refunding and replacing, taking full responsibility. They could have left everyone hung out to dry.
So far, 1703 has proven to be a great BIOS. Temps are great, the correct values for the amps and PL1 and PL2 are implemented, and not seeing any more benchmark or actual use performance hits.
I highly recommend switching to the 1703 BIOS, avoid beta BIOS versions, and checking all BIOS settings are correct no matter which BIOS you are on. They are releasing these new microcode versions for a reason!
If you go back in this thread, you will see I reported the most recent beta BIOS was setting 511 amps and 4096 for PL1 and PL2, and I am running a 307 amp, PL1 253 and PL2 253 14700K. Not sure with the microcode how much that matters, but those are the very settings which helped cause the original problems to begin with. I commend ASUS for being on it, and being one of the first to implement the BIOS microcode fixes, and to Intel for their accountability. I hope Intel learns from this and never makes such a bad mistake again.
This has been damaging to us consumers, and to their reputation and profits as well!

They took out 1703 and just released 1704
