Onboard M.2 drives are halfwitted, saturate motherboard with heat,.. lets have 4 please. 😃

I don't see any new features worthwhile, to justify upgrading from my Z790 Apex, not even Wi-Fi 7,..

Wanting the Apex Encore for my 13900KS (SP121) and 8000 2x16 (8200/36 daily) mem kit for primary work rig. Will allow me to use my Apex Vanilla with parts already purchased - my "potato" 13600K i5 and 7600 2x16 mem kit along with the GTX 4070 I picked up this summer as a gaming and all-around "everything but work" build.

Can finally turn the page on Rocket Lake Z590 Apex and DDR4 memory kits - Hooray!

Good shape for the long wait until Panther Lake or Arrow Lake Refresh.

Might be a bit more headroom for memory OC on the encore? Not sure yet. Seeing some blurbs about that but nothing definite yet.

MZ790AE Bios 1602, GSkill F5-8400J4052G24GX2-TR5S, 14900KS, EKWB D5 TBE 300, Seasonic Prime TX-1600 ATX 3.0, Asus Strix 4090 w/ HK block, Phanteks Enthoo Elite, Asus Claymore 2, Asus Gladius 3, Asus XG349C, Crucial T705, Windows 11 Pro

Encore validation is up 400MHz, which should be telling in itself.

Well, that's definite. When will we see the boards in the retail channel? Thanks!!

Improved memory tracing topology for the Encore over the Vanilla!

Maybe I can get the 8000 2x16 kit 8400 stable and cool "as a daily" with the new Apex - hoping 😀

We know the Gskill 8400 2x24 kit is launching soon, wonder if we'll ever see any higher speed 2x16 kits.

Not certain if it's made of plastic and only a fan bracket OR if it's heavy metal and also meant to move heat away from the onboard M.2 gen 5 SSD - ???

Kinda looks like plastic and not cast metal...

If plastic and only a fan bracket, why would the mount span the width of the board - ???

Looks to me that's just designed to blow air over the RAM etc. It does look like plastic, so I can't see how it would help to cool the Gen 5 SSD?  You'll be able to tell us when it arrives 😃

Z690 Hero, 12900K, BIOS 3701, MEI 2407.6.1.0, ME Firmware 16.1.32.2473, 7000X Case, RM1000x PSU, ASUS TUF OC 3090TI, 2 x 16GB Corsair RAM @ 5200MHz, Windows 11 Pro 23H2, Corsair H150i Elite AIO, 4x Corsair RGB fans, 3x M.2 NVME drives, 2x SATA SSDs, 2x SATA HDs.

Can you believe it Sir John? ROG moved the PCIe slots all down one space for a fan bracket? I lost my breakfast ROG brother in disbelief.

You'd think with all that redesign would could come a proper implementation of heat removal for the gen 5 M.2 slot. All they needed to do was attach a metal heatsink like a riser card from slot M.2_2 (2nd slot down) isolated from the VRM sink and PCH sink and make it a dual purpose combination M.2 heatsink/ddr5 fan mount - brilliant right?

Maybe not brilliant, but at least smart.

Oh goodness me, never in a million would I believe ROG went to all that trouble to mount a fan, it's baffling. 😶

Still the most beautiful Apex board ever produced even though it's form definitely does not follow it's function.
