Network adapter issues MAXIMUS Z790 DARK HERO

Phunction

Hi, I have a system MAXIMUS Z790 DARK HERO - i9-14900K - G.SKILL Trident Z5 XMP 3.0 DDR5.

It appears my network connection will just hang or disconnect for a couple of seconds randomly.

I know the cable and LAN itself is fine as I just dropped this machine in as a replacement, the previous one has no issues. I also swapped back to make sure and still no issues.

I am not seeing anything in event viewer as to what is happening. I can't seem to find any pattern, it will be fine for and hour or more then disconnect. Sometimes it will do so only a few minutes between disconnects.

Any ideas on how to trace the problem? The adapter driver says it is from 2022.

This is on Windows 11 Pro.

Hi @Phunction,

Make sure you're on driver 2.1.3.3 or later as this driver mitigated the issue with connection drops for the majority of cases.

I tried the intel driver, it is only one giant all in one/all OS in one install. I tried to install from /apps/setup/setupbd/winx64

However I get an error that no intel network connections are found.

I went to the asus website, went to my board and tried to download drivers, and the page says:

We don’t currently provide a software utility or drivers for this model.
For Devices with Chrome OS, Driver will be updated while Chrome OS updating.

???

Ok, I managed to find the Intel driver, it appears the package does not acutally list the i226-v model.

However, I still don't know why the asus site for my mobo say the model has no drivers or firmware, etc.

Try the drivers from MoKiChU here:

Z690 Hero, 12900K, BIOS 4301, MEI 2512.7.3.0, ME Firmware 16.1.35.2557, 7000X Case, RM1000x PSU, ASUS TUF OC 3090TI, 2 x 16GB Corsair RAM @ 5200MHz, Windows 11 Pro 23H2, Corsair H150i Elite AIO, 4x Corsair RGB fans, 3x M.2 NVME drives, 2x SATA SSDs, 2x SATA HDs.

I was able to get the lan driver working from the intel site.
