MZ790E Q code 55 solved

Had to RMA the former MZ790E due to code 55 with GSkill 6400 memory all at default. Received the new MZ790E today. No problem. Boots without issue into the bios at default with the same memory kit. Testing memory at default currently.

Noticed that there’s a note to update to FW ….2020 BEFORE flashing bios 0703 on the Asus website:

“Before BIOS update, please download Intel ME update tool from ASUS support site, and update ME firmware to Version 16.1.25.2020 to ensure optimized system settings.”

I have not installed windows yet. Is there any mechanism to updating the FW outside windows?*

Would love to help, but I don't have your board/CPU so difficult to advise. Whatever RAM you get, go for 2 sticks - much less likely to have problems than 4.

I hope somebody with your hardware can say what works for them, but anyway, you've eliminated some causes, so progress 🙂

I will think about opening another thread. I already checked memory support list of the Z790-E.
I wroteto this thread mainly because Hopper was having some issues with the same board and DDR5 sticks.
He swapped out the board to fix the problem, and then it worked for him. In the meantime Hopper is using faster RAMs with the Z790-E, maybe already too fast / too expensive for me 😄

I can exchange my not working F5-6400J3239G16GX2-TZ5RK with the dealer to get the same again. Maybe it is smarter to use others but not sure about.
High speeds are still rare and expensive in Europe. At 6400 speed and above, for example, Corsair DDR5 is not available. Maybe I'll try Kingston KF564C32RSK2-32 or go with another faster G.Skill like F5-6600J3440G16GX2-TZ5RK .
G. Skill DDR5 is better available here, even up to 7600 speed.

Yeah, I'd suggest staying below 6000 as very general advice. The chance of issues should decrease significantly. I only have 5200 XMP enabled sticks and I'm more than happy personally. Even if you went higher and it worked, I don't believe you'd see a big improvement in real world general use. So I guess it's all about value and risk. Anyway, hope you can get a specific recommendation.... good luck

I will get Corsair DDR5 5600 within the next days ( CMT32GX5M2B5600C36 ).

Memory spec for the i5-13600K is DDR5 5600 MT/s or DDR4 3200 MT/s.
So no overklocking planned for the next try. I will send my results probably at the weekend.
