Am I reading this correctly? New 0904 bios for the extreme supports 8000 DDR5? Don’t see that on the GSkill website for their 8000 product on the QVL or for Asus itself, but there’s this in the description for bios 0904:

It would not surprise me if the Extreme 4-Dim board will run 24x2 @ 8000 stable.
Most likely you will see 4800, 5600, or perhaps 7200 stable with most CPU IMC running the new 24x2 memory kits.

I have a 7800 kit GSkill running fine now. Had to manually tweak voltages a bit. XMP2, Tweak mode 2, VDD/VDDQ 1.47, SAV 1.35. Passed TM5 no issue. 200MHz I am sure is a negligible difference. Wanted to try anyway. Thanks.

Take a look at this article on Guru3D:

Thanks. I am reluctant to believe an 8000 or 8200 kit will be easily OC on a 4 dimm board though. The higher frequency has been tested on the Apex of course, but not the extreme. I might try one though and see. 🙂

If it's on the QVL it has been validated as working internally. If it isn't on the QVL, remain pessimistic.
As you are already aware, this doesn't necessarily mean it's "easy". The highest validated ratios will have the least signal margin and require a reasonably good IMC.

I think someone just copied and pasted that update to the memory on the Asus’ website. I really don’t think it really applies to a 4 dimm board as you have pointed out before. I am likely not to proceed with testing this as it may just be complete futility.
