Motherboard displays d6 error when starting up

Hi,

Whenever I power on my PC from a full shutdown, the motherboard throws a d6 error code. I’ve Googled the issue, checked forum posts, and gone through the suggested troubleshooting steps.

What I’ve tried so far:
- Ensured all power cables, GPU, and RAM are properly seated
- Swapped HDMI and DP cables
- Tested with another GPU
- Tried GPU in different PCIE slots
- Reset CMOS
- Reflashed BIOS (tried various versions, including the latest)
- Running RAM at stock speeds

After resetting the BIOS, the board shows an a2 error code. To get it to POST, I have to power it off and back on again. This works only until the PC is fully shut down and the motherboard capacitors discharge, then I need to reset the BIOS again.

The system has been running fine until now. I haven’t changed any BIOS settings (other than enabling XMP) and I haven’t done any overclocking. The only recent game I’ve run is the Battlefield 6 beta.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

It's possible that the CMOS battery may need to be replaced.  It's a cheap fix and wouldn't hurt to have a new battery anyway.

Late reply, but this worked for me! Bought a new Panasonic CMOS battery and no error anymore.

Thank you for suggesting this 🙂

I'm glad it worked out for you.  😊
