At this point I don't care about speed and over clocking. I just want a stable motherboard and computer. I have random USB crashes where the entire bus stops and all USB devices don't get power. I have replaced the CPU, bought a NEW motherboard, updated all BIOS and drivers to latest several times over the year. I have tried several BIOS combinations. The problem happens when using USB devices mostly while on a Teams call audio or video for awhile. But has happened outside of Teams. I am on Teams often so it is the most common thing. The while bus dies. I can remote into the computer and use it fine, so it is still running, just no USB. I have tried several ports no difference. It happens randomly and works otherwise. I am sick of trying to fight this. The computer is mostly used for business with some XR development work in Unreal engine, but that is fine usually.
SO, I am looking for the MOST STABLE BIOS config that does not overclock or anything more than base manufacturer settings.
BIOS Version 2.22.1286
Intel i9-14900k (recently replaced)
4 sticks for Kingston 32768MB 4800Mhz
2 Nvidia GeForce RTZ 4080 (yes 2, i have 8 monitors)
What are the best basic / stable BIOS settings? Again, I don't need to overclock or even play games on this system.
Thanks in advance.

I've had similar problems in the past and it was a faulty USB device. Try replacing all USB items(and removing what's not essential) and see if stability improves. Also try different ports and look at any devices connected to the motherboard USB ports as well. It will be trial and error and takes a while to build confidence that each device is OK, but it might help.

thanks for the reply, the exact same USb devices were running on my older asus board with no issue. I have reduced down to three, keyboard mouse and mic. reloaded all the latest drivers i could actually run from the asus site (some do not run, bad file I assume)
and have same issue.. it looks to be an issue with the motherboard design or bios combos, this is the 2nd z790 motherboard and still have issues..

Actually, I still have one device that sometimes causes freezes when I plug it in, a CFExpress card reader. It's frustrating. It kills the keyboard and/or mouse but once they are connected again, everything is fine.
One other thing you could try is to turn off power management for the USB ports in Device Manager, that has helped me in the past as well.
