Microcode Management

For those unaware, on ROG motherboards in the UEFI under Tweakers Paradise you'll find an option to revert to older CPU Microcode.

One reason you may wish to utilise this is due to Intel's Undervolt Protection (UVP) in later microcode. Causing the CPU to disregard undervolt requests.

Selecting x104 will mitigate this setting. Please be aware that Intel regularly releases microcode updates to address security vulnerabilities and bugs. Using an older microcode version may leave your system exposed to known exploits and security threats.

Non strix users will get this? Or just rma?

First they cut avx512, now undervolt. Guess next.

This was implemented some time ago by multiple vendors. It may not be necessary on some boards. I’ve posted it now as some b660 users are unable to run an undervolt on newer microcode and aren’t aware of this function. If you’re not experiencing issues, it’s not needed.

Ok thanks. I have no issues at all, I was just interested to see if it was there.

I don't have that option at all. Is there a reason why it's missing? Thanks.

should this be used on z790 or should you only use this on b series boards?

You’d have to compare. 104 may net better performance. Other than this, if not experiencing issues I’d recommend staying on the latest MC.

hey thanks for the reply, i actually do get better performance even at stock on x104 mc. but i have this weird bug where my bus clock shows 99.8. while on the other microcode its always 100. is this just a reporting error?

I was wondering about this , because I didn't see that option in my bios,. 0904. I want to be able to do some offset settings on my 13900KS to keep it from 100c range. Right now on Cinebench 2 cores bump 100c. I wish to take it down a notch.
