Memory errors

I just received my z690 maximus extreme and trying corsair memory on it. Testing with memtest86 9.3 pro outside windows. No OS installed yet. I just flashed shamino’s latest bios posted above. I guess RMA is in order? I have XMP II enabled here. Would that make a difference? Or test at default settings?

Just got this with baseline default settings, no XMP.

I've always used XMP I profile ever since 10900k. I've never used XMP II. I'm not even sure what the difference is between them.
I also know there's "Mode 1" and "Mode 2", at least there was with DDR4. The last time I ever tried screwing around with Mode 2 (DDR4), on a 10900k, my write speed was literally half of the read speed. Found out later that was due to one of the Tertiary RAM timings being set wrong (either one of the DR/DD timings or one of the SG/DG timings), which can just be fixed by using the default mode then tweaking them normally after doing research.

Load Optimized Defaults in the BIOS (I think last menu on the right), save, exit, then go back in the BIOS and set it to XMP I. Then do a memory test with memtest86. It should pass with no problems. Is your XMP profile 5200 mhz Cas 38 ?

You can also, on your XMP I profile, try setting VDD voltage to 1.15v and VDDQ voltage to 1.20v and System Agent Voltage to 1.10v. This may help stabilize things a bit more and may give you a start at tightening some of the memory subtimings as well.

I thought XMP I was the optimized setting for the MB whereas the XMP II was optimized for the memory kit.

You actually stole my thought. I flashed bios 0702 and enabled XMP I and running memtest86 now to test. The XMP is 5200 cas 38 I believe you are correct. Kit ID =*CMT32GX5M2B5200C38.

I will update after this next test finishes.

Thanks for your help!! Much appreciated.*

BTW you should try the 0002 Maximus Extreme Bios that was posted. Allows me to run my Micron Gskill (5200 XMP) RAM at 5600 with tightened subs/terts, where before, only 5400 was possible (5600 was only possible with stock timings).

I pretty much used his primaries he posted here (except I set tRAS to 48 instead of his)

https://www.overclock.net/threads/official-intel-ddr5-oc-and-24-7-daily-memory-stability-thread.1794...
And i set VDD: 1.35v, VDDQ: 1.40v and VCCSA 1.25v and that weird tccd_l_dll to 8 (something at the very bottom of the memory timings)

4 Passes on 0002 no errors. XMP I enabled, 12900K, MZ690E. Corsair kit CMT32GX5M2B5200C38.

Load VGA bios lock on reboot.

Increased SAV to 1.25 and VDD to 1.35, VDDQ to 1.4 and it booted right up. Baseline voltages low. I think the SAV was at 1.12V and the other 2 @ 1.25V.

Thanks again!!

Flashed 0702 over 0002 and used XMP I to test and no problem after 2 passes so far.

I will probably flash 0002 again and test using XMP I with voltage tweaks. Might try 0803 again as well. Don’t have windows installed yet.

Thanks guys. Clearly, I don’t need to RMA this memory kit.**

FYI - I was able to pass MemTest86 numerous times with XMP enabled, but as soon as I tried running Windows I started getting all kinds of blue screens. When I disabled XMP, Windows was totally stable.

Was that with XMP I or II? Â*
