I am having an issue with my virtual machines running slow in vmware workstation. I was told that I should not use the default windows 11 NVME drivers.
Is there a better driver for this board? I installed the chipset driver and the intel rapid storage driver.
In Device manager, it still says Standard NVM Express Controller, is that normal?

Interestingly, I now have to run Workstation under admin rights for this system to get any performance. I think this is related to being on Windows 11 (Blech) now when I was on Windows 10 before.

What NVME are you using and in what slot

m.2_1 is my main drive and seems to run great. Samsung 990pro
m.2_2 is the drive for my virtual machine but slow with the vm machine. Samsung 980 pro

Are you using Samsung Magician?
If so, do you have the performance optimization turned on? & OP (Overprovisioning Turned on?)
If so, turn them both off. Just go into your power settings profile and adjust it so that the Hard Drives never go to sleep.
Try your VM again.
I am using both Samsung 990 Pro and Crucial T705. Both companies have their own versions of "Performance Mode" .. I have found better performance with those features turned off.

I am not using that.

Updated the Firmware?

It had the latest update when I moved it from my last system to this system, just about a month ago.
The funny thing, my old AMD system, it ran great. So that is why I was thinking maybe there was a better driver than the windows standard one.

Hi @Phunction
Should be good to go. Have you tried running Crystal Disk or a similar benchmark to check drive performance?
