Maximus Z690 Formula PCIEX Slots???

Like other manuals there is no definitive info in the manual on these slots. No diagram like older boards. So here we go. This is what I gather

If you install an M2 SSD in M.2_1. Then PCIEX slot 1 runs at 8X

I would need to use M.2_2 and M.2_3 then PCIEX runs at 16X

If I install the Hypercard in PCIEX slot 3 I get the same M2 performance, but what happens to PCIEX slot 1. Is it still 16X?

None of what I have obviously runs at PCIE 5.0. It's all PCIE 4.0

So what is the best storage solution vs. the PCIE slot 1 running at 16X? I only have 2 M2 drives so use the Hypercard in slot 3 or the onboard M.2_2 & M.2_3 slots?
Is there any benefit to using the Hypercard vs. the onboard M2 slots?

Hope this isn't to confusing I just want to set this up once and be done with it.

Also according to the manual M.2_2 runs at PCIE 3.0 X4
M.2_3 runs at PCIE 4.0 X4
If I use the Hypercard both will run at PCIE 4.0 X4

No gpu currently support PCIe gen 5. You’ll need a PCIe gen 5 gpu to have the X16 slot run on gen 5.Â*

I realize that My card is Gen 4 wanted to verify with the Hyper card installed in Slot 3 that I would get 4.0 X 16 on slot 1

I have PCIe 4@ 16x and all three internal m.2 slots occupied. I think you are confusing the m.2 slot 1 with the rog hyper card slot 1 which is an addon PCIe card that comes with the board.
