my Hynix 2x16 Kingston fury 6000 worked immediately with my Asus z690 extreme,
i also tried buildzoids mem timing tweaks and it worked well got it stable to cl34 instead of cl40,
but i finally reverted to the original XMP settings because of these secondary timing tweaks were changing the sound abnormally.
I feel XMP timing are better to use with memory sensitive software like audio software..
these buildzoids secondary timings mem tweaks worked well, but were messing up the integrity of the sound..
Also Cpu undervolting works well for me with Bios 1720.
Before i used to struggle so much trying to set a stable overclocking using different ways,
until i found this thread and just used the recommended settings for overclocking by Falkentyne and Roberto:
my system works wonderfully like this:
Adaptive Voltage=1.4
By Core:
P: 52x8 +2 OCTVB Boost Profile
so
P: 54x8 all core
(full load 51x8)
E: disable
cache 4.7
these settings LLC=#1/ AC_LL=0.60 / DC_LL=1.70 are really the way to go,
worked wonders in temperatures and voltage requirements with the 12900k and the z690 extreme.
Famous youtube overclockers cannot get to overclock the 12900k without insane temperatures because they are not using these LLC 1 settings..
Someone should email these LLC1 settings to SkatterBencher, der8auer, JayzTwoCents ... so that they could try them, it would make a world of difference in what the 12900k can do..
i managed to set my rather bad SP 86 chip 12900k to 5.4 Ghz all core, with these settings..
with fantastic temperatures generally under 50 C using only a Noctua nh-d15 air cooler..
thanks so much!
these settings are a lifesaver..
Also these 5.4 Ghz all core settings work too with Windows 7!

Curious , do you know when your extreme was built , build date ? Also the secondary timings can mess up audio ? Ive been having audio zzzttt sounds every once in while and thought it was my Steelseries nova pro wireless headset , since its close to my router. OR the Asus AI settings .
Oh , 1720 bios in intel xtu told me that cant undervolt, couple weeks back 1601 Intel xtu undervolting worked, no errors. I didnt try in bios. z690 is more complicated ( to me ) to either undervolt or oc stable (to me) , i read and watched and made me just wish it would be the same when 9900k was out, set xmp (with ram on QVL) and tweak couple settings and thats it, lol.

i have 2 Asus Z690 Extreme motherboard both with 12900k,
one was bought around 11/2021 and the other around 05/2022, both work fine with these Falkentyne and Roberto LLC1 OC settings.
the deformation of the natural integrity of the audio signal by speeding it up a bit it seems when i use any other DDR Ram timing other than XMP maybe comes from the fact that i up-sample all audio ...
i use an external RME soundcard,
because the integrated audio ESS chip have some issues with the Realtek audio drivers available ..
the Falkentyne and Roberto LLC1 OC settings are simple to set but a bit overwhelming for newcomers..
I wish they could integrate these more easily in AI overclocking settings for exemple,
so people could just to get a stable overclocking with low temperatures in one click..

Great post! Lol Falkentyne, I see you on every forum I'm on.
Does the ROG Strix Z690-A Gaming WiFi DDR4 board have the same BIOS and overclocking features as the Maximus?
