Maximum consumption problem (with 13700k)

Level 7

Hi all,

I've been using my 13700k processor with an air cooler, and my power consumption was around 190 watts because I normally do .080 undervolt. However, I recently purchased a liquid cooler, which has a maximum power consumption of 221 watts without undervolting. Why doesn't consumption increase more?

I use the BIOS by default. My motherboard is the Asus Tuf Z690 D4.

If I understand you correctly, then power consumption will normally be independent of cooling capacity, unless the cooling system is saturated and thermal throttling occurs. This might not be the case if you are using the TVB feature which boosts clocks according to the temperature reached. Otherwise, I wouldn't expect power consumption to change with the cooling capacity.

Thank you for your answer, John.

I changed the mode to extreme in the bios, so the consumption increased. But in normal mode it does not exceed 220w.

I'm using Arctic 360mm.

It's .04 undervolt and OC values:

You'll not want to see more than 250w on that cooler. Consider installing a contact frame. What LLC?

Actually I reached a consumption of 263 watts, but you know Asus bios has 3 different modes. When it is in normal mode, it does not consume much. While in Fast mode it increases more, I was able to reach 263 watts consumption in Extreme mode. However, I want to use it in Normal mode and I want it to consume more when It needed. I don't know exactly what LLC is.

I bought a contact frame I'm going to try.

I have now set the undervolt to -.080 in normal mode. It consumes 203 watts.
