As above, the ME Firmware cannot be downgraded once updated. Inte's thought process for this is likely very straightforward, given the ME firmware includes security features crucial for protecting the system against various threats.

actually i was able to downgrade it pretty easily. i got better latency on ram and better benchmark performance in cpu benchmarks. i downgraded from 16.1.30.2307 to 16.1.30.2264.

Not conventionally but we don't specify due to encouraging unnecessary service cases

And how did you do that?

i dont want to say on here due to the fact that asus or intel could potentially patch it. the fact that intel ME can cause problems, performance regression/ and sometimes instability but not let us downgrade if we have issues is absolutely beyond me. if you really want to know its on other overclocking forums. but just know you have to be on the bios the ME is built for. so you cant be on a lower ME than what the bios needs.

Ok, that's understandable. I've just seen a lot of options and it hasn't had the desired effect. I know that the thing with the bios and the respective ME always updates itself, unfortunately.
For me it is also the case that the ME version 16.1.30.2264 works better than the new version with 2361, for example.

Just confirming that yes ME can be downgraded and I've also done that; however, that didn't help much with memory bandwidth or latency in my case so I went back up to the 2307.
