Intel Wi-Fi 6# AX411 160Mhz #4 on ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Extreme

I'm having trouble with my new  ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Extreme  mobo with regards to the Intel Wi-Fi 6# AX411 160Mhz driver.  I can't seem to get the Wi-Fi or the Bluetooth for that matter to detect.

The Device reports a cannot start (Code 10) and Insufficient system resources exist to complete the API.

I've tried to use the Intel assistant and manually installing the latest and previous from latest drivers manually.

I'd be grateful for any thoughtful responses on how to try to resolve this.

Hi @JohnAb and ASUS Colleagues, I regret to share that I continue to see this elusive WIFI and Bluetooth Device cannot start, Code 10 error.  I have updated my ASUS ROG MAXIMUS Z790 Extreme mobo to the latest 1501 BIOS, pulled down the absolute latest drivers from MoKiChU's wonderful website (thank you @MoKiChU you are incredible!), and I have tried multiple times to remove the WIFI and BT within the BIOS and re-enable.  Each time it continues to display the wonky cannot start error per the screenshot.  I'm at a total loss what to do now.  WIFI and BT Still Bad Dec 12 2023.png

There is a new chipset driver from a few days ago.  As I mentioned, the chipset is important for this card.

Since neither the Bluetooth or Wi-Fi are working, it can see the card, it just doesn't seem to be able to do anything with it.

Have you made any Power setting changes in the Bios?

Hi Saltgrass thanks for replying!  I did take the latest Intel Chipset driver 10.1.19600.8418 update via ArmoryCrate yesterday.  I have not changed any power settings.  I am not overclocking.  The only standard BIOS item I am changing is turning off CPU Fan monitoring, as, I have a high-end custom water loop that doesn't utilize the CPU Fan on the Motherboard.  That's it, the only change from default.

I don't understand the System Resources situation.  I am wondering, the later Z790 boards may have had some type of change regarding Wi-Fi card versions.  Maybe it is expecting an AX210 instead of the AX411.  The newer Hero board is Wi-Fi 7 capable, so it is probably using a BE 200 card which is PCIe.  My earlier Z790 Hero is using the AX411, which I installed on the board and it works fine.

If you run the perfmon /rel command in a run box, does the graph show any continuing problems with the board, in General?

I have liquid cooling but did not mess with the processor fan because I thought it would control the speed of the pump.

Hope something pops up that will explain your situation.

I don't really know how to read this graph with any certainty.  I was surprised to see some failures though.  I did have a bad lock-up after disabling the WiFi in the BIOS and had to cold power cycle to get the system back up.  That's probably what was happening at the 3:24 PM event.  The other events I was completely unaware of.  There was no particular obvious warning messages per se to me.

A quick follow-up the iCue software had tons of updates... am updating them now...  More to come...

I got crushing news tonight, after trying everyone's suggestions here, I started chatting with Asus support, and sadly, they're telling me its an isolated hardware failure and needs a warranty repair.  That's devastating news for me as going without my motherboard for a couple weeks will be painful.  I really don't want to tear it down, potentially having to redo everything.  Ugh.  Any thoughts here?

I was wondering if you might be running a 14th Gen processor on that board.  I did see some indications there are firmware updates required when doing that, just in case you may have missed them.

Hi @Saltgrass , yes I'm running the Intel Core i9-13900KS.  Its not overclocked. I'm using the Corsair DOMINATOR PLATINUM RGB 32GB (2x16GB) DDR5 DRAM 7200MHz C34 Memory Kit with it.  I've got default clock set to 2400 MHz.  Was holding off on overclocking until I got the drivers and everything stable and solid.

Have you tried shutting down iCue and do the drivers another way?

Maybe something is broken, it just is not behaving as expected.  I can imagine unwinding an advanced cooling system, would be a real pain.
