Hey everyone,
I’ve recently noticed that one of the temperature sensors on my ASUS Maximus Z690 Hero—specifically TMPIN6—is consistently reporting temps around 125°C max, (0 to 85 at idle). This value shows up in monitoring tools like HWMonitor and, but oddly enough, none of the other temps (CPU, VRMs, PCH, etc.) seem abnormal. System stability is fine, and I’m not getting any thermal throttling or shutdowns.
Specs:
CPU: Intel i7-12700K (stock settings)
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Maximus Z690 Hero (latest BIOS)
Cooling: Corsair H150i AIO
GPU: RTX 3070
Monitoring Tools: HWMonitor
My Questions:
1) Is TMPIN6 a valid temperature sensor on this board, or is it a ghost/bogus reading?
2) Has anyone else with a Z690 board seen this specific sensor reaching 125°C?
3) Should I be concerned, or can I safely ignore this?
Would really appreciate hearing from others with similar setups. Thanks in advance!

No need to worry, I've seen this since I purchased the motherboard over 3 years ago. So just forget about it, there is no way that anything in your system is actually getting that hot - it's just an error. I have the fault showing now, but with a max temp of 113C in my case.
