Hero z790 and M.2/PCIE Questions

I'm trying to put this together but I cannot decipher what turns on and off when you install things.  If I understand it right,  I'm supposed to not use M.2_1 as it slows the GPU (annoyingly weird to do this).  And what about the other M.2s?  And if I use them do I lose the middle PCIe Slots?  I know they really want you to use the Hyper M.2 on the third.  And what about the SATAs (not planning on using them anyway, but what happens with them?)

Can someone make sense of this for me?

Just install it in M.2_1. You're over thinking it. Pretty sure it's like throwing a hotdog down a hall way. Yes, the numbers will say high speed, but I don't think it all gets utilized.
