How is this different from the recall at the end of last year?

Don’t think it’s different, it was just posted today at guru3d. It stated something about North America distribution only which was the only unique thing I saw. Just wanted everyone to take a look to make sure it does not apply to them. I also found it strange that it was reported in their news just today. There’s also the caption about a twitter feed dated August 18.

And here’s another article on the same subject. Must be that the regulatory agency in US and Canada is just now getting around to making sure the problem is addressed:

Asus should give all the affected owners free upgrades to the equivalent Z790, which will be just around the corner. They've known about this for long enough, and probably hoped it would just go away. In other articles it also mentions actual batch number affected. Good luck to those who have those motherboards.

Do better, ASUS. It's getting coverage from some of the bigger tech influencers; you have an opportunity to reach out to them, tell your side of the story, and improve the PR side of this. People like Jay strike me as being the fair sort that will listen and do a followup if there's more to be told. Otherwise, the influencers will go with the information that they have and criticise the bits that don't look good.
