So I'm really close on the setup for my new ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Extreme mobo. The last device issue I have remaining nos is a missing RAID Controller device. I don't have a RAID right now so its not a huge problem. But I'm puzzled this wasn't more straightforward. Also, full confession I've not built a system in over a decade. So I'm rusty.
In the Device Manager, Other devices -> RAID Controller shows an error. When I open the properties, I see The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28) and then There are no compatible drivers for this device. To find a driver for this device, click Update Driver.
When I search for drivers, I get nothing.
I went to MoKiChU's list (PS - MoKiChU you are a genius! thank you!), here:
And best guess, I think I need here:
The problem is I'm not sure if I need the 9x or which one I need.
The marketing info says the board has the Z790 Chipset (obviously), and Intel Rapid Storage Technology. But there is no mention of a 6x or 9x or whatever. So I'm not fully sure what that means. Can anyone explain that to me a bit?
Studying other posts on this subject, as far as I can tell I should be able to find the drivers in the Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology Driver V19.5.0.1037 for Windows 10 64-bit, Windows 11 64-bit.(WHQL) which is dated in 2022. But, so far, no luck there.
Solved! Go to Solution.

The Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology Drivers are located on your support page. Just install those and the warning should vanish. Nothing else to change, even if not using RAID. If you want the very latest drivers, then install the Intel VMD drivers from MokiChU here:
The latest drivers download link will be on the very first page of that thread.

I feel like an idiot but the Intel Rapid Storage Technology Drivers on my mobo support page worked. I swore I tried them twice unsuccessfully! But whatever happened, it worked. I grabbed the latest drivers from Mokichu just in case although I really don't intend to run a RAID on this device. I may rethink that but that's where I am now. Thanks again for the reply and the link!

Good job. MoKiChU's drivers are entirely optional. I use them all myself, but if everything is working just fine, no need to worry. You can always check all of your drivers against his versions at some point. I know we have different boards, but if it helps, here is a list of all of my drivers (most will be the same) but you might have a different Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chipset. Device Manager should tell you what you have - mine is an AX210. Ignore the numbers in blue, they are just additional drivers included with each main package.

Just to advise, those codes in MoKiChU's drivers are wildcards so you need 6xx/7xx drivers for example (like 690/790). The link you found was for 6x, 7x, 8x 9x etc. I don't know what boards those are, but they're not the ones you want!
