Resolved.. this is sooo stupid. Its the thunderbolt device driver.. It seems 0813 has update something on Thunderbolt. I had older version installed.. but after new bios.. old version no longer work? The thunderbolt version listed on Z790 Hero: 1.41.1335.0 support webpage is not the newest.

The newest one that you need is: 1.41.1340.0
https://rog.asus.com/forum/showthread.php?129940-DRIVERS-Intel-Thunderbolt

Someone should update the support page with the newest one. I found out by install the Amoury Crate and saw the driver need to be updated. Personally, i hate Amoury Crate. When Idle, it like 3-5 % CPU usage...

Excellent and top marks to Saltgrass too. Great job - always nice to find a solution, that's what these forums are all about 🙂

Hi,

Since your motherboard also has Thunderbolt built-in, you should have UCM device in addition to your Thunderbolt device in your Device Manager, either Cypres, ITE, or Texas Instruments.

Hi,

It's not the Thunderbolt device driver update that fixed your issue, let me explain :

The UCM devices drivers are missing in the Thunderbolt drivers package from your motherboard support page : https://dlcdnets.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/LGA1700/M3904/Intel_Thunderbolt_Driver_V1.41.1335.0_WIN10_WIN1...

The UCM devices drivers are always in the Thunderbolt drivers packages from my drivers thread : [DRIVERS] Intel Thunderbolt

When you installed the latest drivers package from my thread, you certainly updated your Thunderbolt device driver, but above all you installed UCM device drivers corresponding to your built-in hardware.

Fantastic - thanks MoKiChU. I do have UCM drivers listed in Armoury Crate and I was not sure where they came from at first. I did read somewhere that they were related to Thunderbolt but I wasn't sure if that was true. I do have Thunderbolt drivers 1.41.1340.0 installed which are later than those on the support pages and I think they were installed by Intel Driver and Support Assistant. That's what my notes say anyway. Pretty sure I didn't use your drivers package in this case.

So now I know for sure that UCM drivers (USB Control Manager I believe) are related to Thunderbolt, or at least included with Thunderbolt drivers in your package. Thank you! I noticed them one day and had no idea what they were at first, or where they had come from.

I have now found the UCMClient listed as a device which uses the 'Cypress UCM Client Peripheral Driver' v1.2.1.88

Update - I DID use your Thunderbolt package as I made a separate note. Now it all makes perfect sense. It wasn't Intel Driver and Support Assistant that installed the UCM drivers after all. Nice one.

Cheers guys. Noticed this in my device manager after updating my Z790 HERO bios and stumbled upon this thread. Driver linked above worked great. Good stuff.

hi.i did a clean install of w8 on a asus t100 and battery and sound are not detected.i decided to uninstall some  of the instances that show up in device manager under host I2c (as another guy suggested)and suddenly the machine wouldnt boot up.i managed to get it to work by unpluging the battery.i installed new drivers via third party app but battery stil not detected + sound card.it seems that 2 out  of the 5 i2c entries that show up in device manager undr the same name control these two devices.i hope my post might give you a hint
