I have a z690 d4 plus wifi

intel 12600k

latest bios 2305

its always done this

16gb ram and is on the accepting list of bios ram modules

I have to say this board or brand is atrocious I installed armoury crate and AI suite thinking no big deal could be pointless but no harm.

I install and the Asusfan service is crashing my computer constantly everytime  run my computer froze i see in the event viewer it said "Asusfan service tryed to run"😂 then "hardware failure" on the same time exact same time!

so i uninstall everything from asus and disable the fan service thought it be fixed and was a huge improvement but still kept freezing every 30 minutes sometime it was a few hours sometime it was 10 minutes.

Event viewer says Hardware failure

never once crashed playing games only idle or browsing obviosuly low usage drops to low voltage or watts?.

Now for the bit thats important even tho asus should really fix their software unbelievable making software freeze ur computer

now this might help other with issues

i disable c state its all fixed. no more freeze on idle why is this?

everything is stock in bios

xmp disabled

is this a cpu problem will an RMA fix it?

does n e 1 know the issue?

im stunned asus released a bios version and cannot do basic tasks like browsing without a freeze and power off and on is required!

ive had this pc for a year and only just trying to fix it now. i only play games mostly and doesnt crash

im probably getting an extra 5 watts cpu maybe less with c state disabled and i see the watts ramp up when c state enabled so i dont know if the average is alot less maybe 3 - 6 watts? dont mind the extra watts 3 - 6 watts for 30 mins 😂

do n e pros know what to do?

will this affect my cpu ? if it cant handle c state enabled is it faulty?

i really dont want to RMA it (waste of time) if it works as it should

im typing this on my PC now and no crash so far wooho. it used to crash alot when im typing on forums

basically the problem is when C state disabled my computer doesnt freeze when browsing or idle

thank u very much

I wonder if the issues may lie not with the C state, but instead with the SVID settings. I've adjusted by C state back to Enabled, but switched SVID from Auto to Trained. So far no crashes over the last 3-4 hours.

Update (5/7/23) - No crashes at ~48hrs thus far. I believe this issue is "solved". Namely, with any of these BIOSes, adjust the SVID from Auto to Trained. The CPU is also running on less voltage, running cooler, and boosting appropriately.

Update (4/7/23) - No crashes at ~24hrs thus far.

bro i cant read ur mesage if u edit it u need  to reply. but i see this cpu is faulty. is the replacement i have to send it back or they replace it?

i dont see svid auto to trained i see auto options then typical then fail safe.

i have enabled enhanced c state and set the limit to c6 if it doesnt work i will obviously have to disabled c state or i may try c4 😞  and i bought this online and tis over a yrs old and i have to pay for shipping IF they fix it. i have no cpu warranty. i typed in the serial in the intel website

disable will be fixed its bs how i cant type a word document or update my drivers without freezing we got to accept they not going to fix the freezing they obviously to cool.  ill keep my  c state disabled

You can RMA your processor since it cannot work properly with c state enabled. Just tell Intel you got BSOD at idle without OC and XMP, and they will send you a replacement. That's not ASUS's fault, becasue the poor quality of your processor leads to such issue.

Is there a way toget my cpu serial without opening my case?

aight it froze after 5 mins trying disable enhanced c state thats probably doing it

Perhaps the CPU is faulty then, sad if out of warranty, but by disabling C states at least you still have a working PC. Maybe you could ask Intel if they will change it anyway. I've heard that their customer service is good and you do have a good CPU (not like you bought a low-end one), so they might help you anyway.

Tell them that you love Intel and don't want to use AMD. They might take your side 😃

By the way, if you haven't done it yet, try a fresh Windows install. There are many reasons why you might get freezes. It might help. Also have a look in HWInfo and see if you are getting WHEA errors. It could also be a faulty USB device that is causing the freezes.
