Fan Xpert 4 vs Armoury Crate

Hi,

I have just finished the built of my new setup (Strix z790-E + 13900K). I am very stonished to see that Fan Xpert 4 in no more included within the AISuite software. It seems that it is mandatory to install Asus Armoury Crate in order to be able to use the Fan Xpert utility. Am I right ?

Best regards

Haven't liked Armoury Crate since I built my 12700K in December. Only reason I used it was for the fan control but as you can't back them up manually, saving and backing up in the armoury crate does NOT guarantee you'll even see them should you ever reinstal making the save/backup pointless. Plus if you change a single fan you get blocked from tweaking everything and have to start from scratch. Hopefully you made notes of the curves.

Have gave up with it and found some fan software thats much better so no longer need the Armoury crate Bloatware

I just installed the Fan Control and strangest thing happened to me. Before the fan control, my GPU temp was always above 45 'C in idle and now it's below 40 'C. It shows same exact values in NZXT Cam software and CPU ID HW monitor. The GPU fans are at 0 RPM. Not sure what happened, but I think either fan control is misreading the temp values, or it was misread before.

Edit: Not sure what happened. But it went back to 45 'C after couple of minutes.

Can't say I notice that myself. Maybe just a bug or maybe the casse fans were running slightly faster?

Least it's sorted. Hopefully it does what you need without having to resort to installing Armoury Crate

I don't have a 790 myself, but I assume that you will still have fan control within the BIOS. If a simple solution is all you need, it would eliminate the need to manage fans via software. Worth a look if it helps...

Note that BIOS fan control will only work with fans connected directly to the motherboard. If you have a USB based fan control hub, then you will need to use the appropriate software - like iCue for Corsair solutions etc.
Z690 Hero, 12900K, BIOS 4001, MEI 2433.6.3.0, ME Firmware 16.1.35.2557, 7000X Case, RM1000x PSU, ASUS TUF OC 3090TI, 2 x 16GB Corsair RAM @ 5200MHz, Windows 11 Pro 23H2, Corsair H150i Elite AIO, 4x Corsair RGB fans, 3x M.2 NVME drives, 2x SATA SSDs, 2x SATA HDs.

Yes, you are right. The GPU fans were spinning while I was setting it up. That's why the GPU temp went down suddenly. Usually, the GPU fans at 0% when the GPU is at 45'C.

Thank you for sharing the Fan Control. I saw it few months back. But I only tried it after seen your reply. Still need armory crate to control the RGB. Like Jay is saying in the video, if he manages to build a software to control RGB, he'll be golden.

Just moved for Fancontrol software. It seems to be very light, stable, powerful and easy tu customise. Bye, Bye AIsuite and all other Asus buggy softwres, i.e Armoury Crate, myAsus,...

Hello,

If you're having issues with Armoury Crate, use the Armoury Crate uninstall tool and reinstall.

In the link below select your operating system, click "Show all" in blue, the uninstall tool is the third download.

Armoury Crate - Support (asus.com)

Once uninstalled, install Armoury Crate version 3.2.6.1 (first download), it will automatically update to version 5.4.10.0, then head to the update center and check for updates.

How does it go after doing this?

Armoury Crate is still a bad joke. Lot of obsolete and uneccesary stuff loaded, incredible slow, tons of bloadware - why? Why should anyone install this crap? Asus had with Ai-Suite and FanXpert a solid option for controlling fans. Not top, but ok. Only thing I can imagine why they transfered FanXpert to Armoury Crate is, that without FanXpert nobody would infect a PC with Armoury Crate. Ok, except this people who want to use Aura. But tell me - is Aura a good option for RGB or is it just the next joke? For this few options, nearly every other company did better, compatible never without trouble etc - and it's still just cosmetic.

Fan Control by Rem0o is way better. For RGB u can use a lot of ohter, way better Options.

It's a pain that Asus build good hardware but still sticks on their softwareissues. And Armoury Crate is an issue, nothing more.

This Armor Cate sucks! Awful software. I wish ASUS had never split Fan XPert.
It says that there is no fan connected to the ROG FAN CONTROLLER.
Does anybody have any idea why?
