F5-5600U4040C16GX2-TZ5K not supported

Hello,

I bought this DRAM on a NewEgg combo deal with an Asus Prime Z690-A. The motherboard DRAM Q-LED is orange and reboots when I try to boot the PC. I've tried both sticks of ram in all slot combinations, single and together. Why is this ram not supported? Is there anything I can do to use it?

That would be difficult, given he can't even go into BIOS in this situation.

I was by the way in the same situation like the OP, previously. With 2 modules in whatever socket combination, the board would not go beyond the orange LED. It turned out to be a hardware problem caused by myself. The cause was that while installing the heatsink, I had apparently scratched / damaged one or several of the hairline prints that run around the socket holes that probably feed the DIMMs. With a replacement board, everything worked fine.

Hello,

Remove the CPU and check the socket for any bent pints

Check that the motherboard stand off screws and CPU cooler aren't over-torqued and are mounted correctly.
13900KS / 8000 CAS36 / ROG APEX Z790 / ROG TUF RTX 4090

Things I did:

  • Reseated GPU and tried to boot with/without it
  • Reseated CPU tried to boot with/without AIO attached
  • Reseated RAM again
  • Loosened all of the motherboard mount screws to 'barely on' level of torque
  • Checked for any bent pins on the CPU
  • Checked for any "micro scratches"

I am using a Lian Li Gallahad AIO with a 1200 => 1700 compatibility bracket installed, I'm not sure if that causes any issues, but it's the only thing that might be non-standard in the whole build. Otherwise it's:

  • Corsair RM850X
  • Nvidia 3080 Founders
  • Samsung 980 Pro
  • Intel i7 12th gen

And everything is brand new.

It still fails at Q-LED DRAM. I suspect I'm in RMA territory. If I RMA it will I also get an updated bios returned?

This is interesting, bought a replacement Z690-A and re-installed the computer completely (sans GPU/M2 HDD) and it's at the orange DRAM light again.

Any suggestions? It seems so unlikely that both DRAM modules are busted.

Try with only one RAM stick in socket A2. If you can boot with just one stick, update the BIOS while you can. Then try with 2 sticks (one in socket A2 and the other in socket B2).

Bought a Gigabyte Z690 Aorus Pro from Amazon. The ram was recognized immediately. So I'm just going to return the Asus.

Board has bios flashback, you don't even need a cpu in the socket to flash.
