Experiences with Z70 Maximus Hero and BIOS 2801?

Since BIOS 2301 I have noch chance to OC my RAM. Before it run without any Problem on 6200Mhz.

With newer Versions of BIOS there is absolutely NO chance to OC the RAM higher than 5600Mhz...
Always the same problem with BSOD and instability.
I've changed timings, XMPI, XMP2, custom XMP. No chance to go higher than 4600 Mhz since BIOS 2301.
Also the CPU is much less to OC after this Version2301.

Before updating BIOS to newer Version I've got Cinebench easy above 36000 point. Actually I did not reach more than 28000 to 31000 Points with the same oder multiple other settings. 😞
All Benchmarks including 3DMark and PCMark10 benches are MUCH higher and more stable with early BIOS Versions as with newer BIOS Versions after 2301.
How is BIOS 2801 in this case? Any experiences?

Thanks.

Normally I find that if stability changes between updates, the overclock was always somewhat conditional to begin with. However, microcode and ME firmware updates can and do occasionally have impact on overclocking.

If not well versed in memory overclocking, there are several tuned profiles within the DRAM Timing Config page under Presets. These may possibly provide better stability.

You can always roll back if expericing issues on 2801.

Hi @UbuRoy

Can you at least provide full system specs, including memory kit part number? Z790 has undergone several microcode changes since 2301, some of which may well impact overclocking.

Yes, you're right. I'm trying 2801 Version since yesterday. Seems PC runs much more stable than the versions before, but not faster.
Also not slower. 😉 It's the physics (of electronic, dumb) 😉

RAM is running with 5600 again. Is ok.

Thanks for help.
