TIPS :

If you want to manage the drivers (remove old/unused drivers for example) that you have in your Windows DriverStore
Use Driver Store Explorer (Right click on "Rapr.exe" > Run as administrator).

If you want better interrupts delivery latency

Hi MoKiChU,

Have random crashes in games caused by sound driver/software so i go for clean reinstall. Could you please advise if pick the right drivers to uninstall? And shall I also use SS3 Cleaner tool (its not in your "cleanup process")?

Hi,

You picked the right drivers to delete in Driver Store Explorer & SS3 Cleaner is now included in your CLEANUP process as stated in my previous post.

You have an ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboard with ALC408x codec, so :

You need Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS) from the first post of this thread.

Follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process, for the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow your UPDATE process.

Once done, if your issues persists, to get rid of SS3 app/drivers :

1) Cleanup : Follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process.
2) Install : Delete the A-Volute folder from AUDIO_Realtek_UAD_ASUS_ROG_SS3-DTS_v6.0.xxxx.x\Drivers folder then follow scrupulously your INSTALL process (without installing SS3/DTS apps, install RTK app only).

For the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow the UPDATE process (always after having delete the A-Volute folder from AUDIO_Realtek_UAD_ASUS_ROG_SS3-DTS_v6.0.xxxx.x\Drivers folder).

And do you think I need to install back anything of this 600Mb audio software  (DTS, Sonic studio, etc) which ASUS suggests?

No, no need.

@vova-ko wrote:

I understand only the use of Realtek Audio console (for audio settings). I use Creative Katana V2 (incl for headphones) via USB connection, so i guess all audio decoding goes in separate Creative software and hardware.

Thanks for what you do here!)

Indeed, when a headset/headphones is connected via USB and not connected via the 3.5mm jacks of your motherboard, it uses its own drivers and applications.

Thanks!

So after I clean all up, I will FULLY install Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS) per your link. And will remove "third party" folder only if it keeps crashing. Will install back only Realtek console and none of DTS/Sonic studio/ other software from ASUS package.

By the way, do you think this Driver Store is a safe tool to clean out all other "old drivers"? It shows quite a few, and I'm a bit worried not to get any new trouble in my system))).

I have the latest drivers. I have tried installing many times even formatted my pc many times. Drivers both from here and the Asus support website.  No matter how i try i never get  to use the sonic studio effects on my Altec Lansing speakers, Only my Asus monitor speakers which do not sound as good. I had Maximus IX Formula and after that one Maximus XII Formula with no problems.  But then i buy Rog Strix Z790 Gaming Wifi  and i miss the sound effects. I can switch the settings to On but no changes in Audio.

Try on the basic mode there it applies to all aplications, advanced is per app

This is what I use and it works fine

It is the same for me i have always been on basic but just showed a pic of advanced mode so you can see there is no ssIII square button behind  speakers realtek usb audio. Only behind Rog PG27 which are the monitor speakers.

If you go to your advanced mode do you see the button behind your headphones realtek usb audio, ?

Normally i only use speakers but have not tried if i get the effects on headphones.

Hi,

The SS III square button is the Sonic Studio Link button, which is only used to apply the SS3 effects on other audio devices than your Realtek controller audio devices :

You don't need to be in Advanced Mode to see Sonic Studio Link button or enable it, switch to your monitor sound device from Windows sound tray icon then relaunch SS3 in Basic Mode, you will see the Sonic Studio Link button in Basic Mode.

Thank you and i am aware of that. But i don´t want to use the Monitor speakers. I want to use my speakers which are Altec Lansing VS4121 2.1  Maybe i should change my question. Why am i only able to use the SS3 Effects on the monitor speaker but not the Altec Lansing speakers i want to use when i choose them in windows speakers settings. As you can see on the photo i can switch studio effect on but it does nothing because there is no Sonic Studio Link above like you see where i put the green square on the photo.

Again, the Sonic Studio Link button is only used to apply the SS3 effects on other audio devices than your Realtek controller audio devices.

Your Realtek controller audio devices (used by your Altec Lansing speakers) have their own SS3 effects On/Off button and their own EQ just above :

I thought so as well but there is absolutely no difference with the slider on or off. and changing between those settings Communication ,Gaming, Movie or Music does nothing. i used to hear a lot of changes on my former mother board but this one no.
