Hi,

You have an ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboard with ALC408x codec, so :

You need Realtek USB Audio Drivers (UAD - ASUS ROG SS3-DTS) from the first post of this thread.

Follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process then your INSTALL process, for the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow your UPDATE process.

Thanks a lot.

Hello first post here i have  Rog Strix Z790 Gaming Wifi. Which would be my driver choice ?

It would be after a clean Win 11 install. I already have done 4 or 5 so far but i never get the Sonic studio effects to work.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you for keeping us up to date!

One thing I noticed for my Z790 Hero: After following the update process, the amplify setting in the Realtek app disappears both for speakers and headphones (both are connected, HP to the front audio). I have to disable and enable the Realtek audio in the device manager to get the setting back.

Hi, MoKiChu! 1st of all - thank you for your input, default ASUS drivers package is real mess!

I noticed some bugs with official ASUS Realtek USB Audio Driver VB6.3.9600.2342. It seems to cause random crashes in some games (eg Forza Horizon 5). And if you turn all audio devices off in control panel - all runs fine again.

So I'm gonna try to make clean driver reinstall and need your advice:

1. When I delete drivers shall pick these ones and force delete?

Spoiler

1.1 Shall I also use the SS3 cleanup tool? Not mentioned in your "cleanup process" but in some of your posts here.

2. Out of all this 600mb ASUS Audio software - what REALLY needs to be installed? Any value in these DTS X, sonic studio etc, etc...? I only understand the point of Realtek audio console (for audio settings).

For output I use Creative Katana V2 via USB connection (incl. for headhones) so I guess audio decoding (+all features) is managed by separate Creative software.

PS By the way, this Driver Store shows many "old drivers" in the system - is it safe to delete them with this tool? A bit scared to do this)

Motherboard: Z690-F Gaming, Win10

Hi MoKiChU,

Have random crashes in games caused by sound driver/software so i go for clean reinstall. Could you please advise if pick the right drivers to uninstall? And shall I also use SS3 Cleaner tool (its not in your "cleanup process")?

Spoiler

And do you think I need to install back anything of this 600Mb audio software  (DTS, Sonic studio, etc) which ASUS suggests? I understand only the use of Realtek Audio console (for audio settings). I use Creative Katana V2 (incl for headphones) via USB connection, so i guess all audio decoding goes in separate Creative software and hardware.

Z690-F Gaming, Win10

Thanks for what you do here!)

Hi,

You picked the right drivers to delete in Driver Store Explorer & SS3 Cleaner is now included in your CLEANUP process as stated in my previous post.

You have an ASUS ROG SS3|DTS Sound Unbound motherboard with ALC408x codec, so :

Once done, if your issues persists, to get rid of SS3 app/drivers :

1) Cleanup : Follow scrupulously your CLEANUP process.
2) Install : Delete the A-Volute folder from AUDIO_Realtek_UAD_ASUS_ROG_SS3-DTS_v6.0.xxxx.x\Drivers folder then follow scrupulously your INSTALL process (without installing SS3/DTS apps, install RTK app only).

For the next drivers packages that I would release, you will can directly follow the UPDATE process (always after having delete the A-Volute folder from AUDIO_Realtek_UAD_ASUS_ROG_SS3-DTS_v6.0.xxxx.x\Drivers folder).

No, no need.

Indeed, when a headset/headphones is connected via USB and not connected via the 3.5mm jacks of your motherboard, it uses its own drivers and applications.
